On a side note, i went with the English localization for names, like
Aquagist -> Med Kit
Rosegist -> Ether Pack
Zetagist -> Revive
Which one do you think it's better?
The English names are accurate for what they are on ps2 (i have my ps2 on rn for comparison) as for the other names i think the direct english translations for those might be the Xenogears item names

Aquagist -> Aquasol
Rosegist -> Rosesol
Zetagist -> Zetasol

Even if that's the case I don't think you could go wrong with either to be completely honest.

Just got informed about this post, made an account here specifically to comment on it.

i remember when the files from the zohar server was alive in discord, that there was a group that said that they were working on it. to bad that server is gone. most translation efforts are likely going to pied piper though, since that's the latest "hot" thing with the xenosaga series

The group is actually still alive - they moved to a separate server. I've been one of the main ones working on it at the moment. It might seem like the project is dead, but rest assured it is still alive and is actually much farther along than you might think. I don't think I can say much more than that, though.

I did want to reach out to Blackstar97. I'm always eager to meet new people eager to work on this game. I don't know if I can make DMs with an account this new, so if you could DM me that would be swag.

is there anyway people can join it or know the name? everywhere seems to be a dead end when searching for active progress on a project like this except for this very thread, so it's why many assumed the translation project was canned.

I'm glad you asked this. The group is called Vector Translations. At current moment they don't have much of a public presence, but I'm expecting that to change soon. They have a private Discord server, but I am more than happy to put people in contact with the other members if they're interested in assisting with any step of the process of making the hack. At present we do need some translators, but other skills like graphic and hacking are also very welcome.

i see, that makes sense and with how long it's been i genuinely wasn't sure what had happened so alot of this was just a mystery to me, though i appreciate the transparency but as you said you probably can't say much about the project therefore I'll leave it there.

in regards to your questions about DMs, if memory serves me right you need to be a specific level to do so on this forum (though someone please correct me if I'm wrong), that said should I find anyone i trust or know personally that is good with translating, as well as graphics hacking i will be sure to send them your way as i cannot say i personally would fit the spot for translating as I'm still learning Japanese myself, that and German.

Nevertheless, I send the team my best regards and hope it continues to go well.

Can you send us the discord invite link for the server?, we're willing to see how this translation has progressed, and how it was made

Like Skankindead said, this is a private server. So sharing an invitation link is not possible.
However Vector Translations will communicate their progress through social medias and YouTube.

ppx brings tiles, colors to the NCLR palette, and each person is named in dots on the GBA 8bpp1/font/btso0000ppx/status1/statusStat window screen.Stillpicture contains the names of each chapter, including Ubung (requires decompression once pcg) Visual contains compressed cut-scene images (similar to pcg)2/MainTitle/sc093.ppz.dec, and the palette file corresponding to the main title graphic-pcg is .rcl. First, pull it out as a window palette with Tinke first and bring it to Crystaltile2, and the image will come out properly

Sorry, there was a mistake because of the duplicated files. After several wrestles with the debugger, I realized that the graphic file actually used for the title screen is the sc093.pcg file in the stillpicture folder.

Can I get looped into the server possibly bad well? 🥰

The row placement is very interesting, either they managed to get around the bytes limits or they found a way to "relocate" the lines i guess, i tried to get in touch, still no reply but eventually i'll dig into the patch for curiosity:

I didn't manage to find the characters name on the ballon either, very interesting too.

They should add a VWF to the game's text, not only because it looks better that way but it also allows more space, and therefore, more accurate translations.
