I saw this on my youtube feed a few days ago. Intel is developping/releasing a new type of RAM (different sources saying different things. Some say they released it, other say they are developping it)
Apparently, this new RAM technology, called ZAM or "Z-Angle Memory" would have better performance, higher capacity and consume less power.
This "ZAM" would be mainly sold to data centers, and while this wouldn't directly help regular consumers like gamers or tech companies, if data centers start buying ZAM instead of RAM,
it could actually lower the price of RAM for the open public.
If the RAM market can be saved, let's hope the HDD/SSD and GPU market can be saved too.
Right now, I can see the price of HDD/SSD skyrocketing. A very small SSD (120GB) I bought back in november for 20$ is now priced at 42$.
It seems like the Moore's law became obsolete when he passed in 2023 :(

Z-Angle Memory, aka 3D RAM?

It's been out there long ago, but used in storage devices (3D-NAND).

Intel is not re-inventing the wheel, just reusing the existing technology on a different purpose.

From what I have been able to gather, this is still a type of DRAM and would still be using the same silicon dies as RAM. The silicon dies are, I believe, what is specifically in high demand right now, so I highly doubt it would have an impact on commodity RAM prices. The only thing is that it possibly could reduce the demand for the dies if it is somehow more efficient than current methods. This is highly unlikely due to it being a newer technology, it is more likely to have problems which would lead to lower yields and higher prices as they are ironing out the manufacturing process.

Intel is actively working to replace the Ram or reduce importance. I am forgetting their names like Intel Optane etc. However they are mainly focus on Data Storage. Hopefully soon when get something new from them.

My sources are that Ram and SSD prices will jump more & more till 2030 unless someone else invented to cover it's demand and supply.
