Is there a way to get pk201 to read ps1 save files? I got the saves of the crash trilogy japan version, and there were downloaded as .gme files via gamefaqs.

the memory area of pocketstation is identical to a normal memory card, so you can use any memory card reader / writer. I use MemcardRex (but you can use any). That tool you linked runs on the PS 1 itself, not convenient for me.
In pk201, you need two files: KROM (pocketstation specific image, go find it somewhere), and FROM (the 128KB memory card area, exactly the same as any other memory card, this is the raw memory dump, I think also known as .MCD, might be wrong)
MemcardRex supports just drag and drop FROM into the app, supports pretty much all formats you want, including .gme, so what you want to do is just open both FROM and the .gme and transfer it from the app

Interesting. I found out that in PSXGameEdit, one of the options for opening single game saves is .mcx, which are saves from PocketStation. So just to be clear, what you mentioned is that I just open the Crash 3 japan save file and FROM file in PSXGameEdit, and I convert it in a way for Pk201 to detect it?

You happen to have discord, btw?

I managed to get audio working! This is my first emulator like ever, so it took a while to get it right.

There's still a bug, the heartbeat doesn't animate.

I managed to make a custom build of rust work on pocketstation

I managed to extract pocketstation kernel's startup song into a tracker format. The entire tracker + square wave generation is contained in the Timer1 ISR. I was able to play it back using a modified Furnace
