Fire Red is probably one of my most played games of all time, but with all the QoL romhacks and improvements that fans have made over the years, it's kind of hard to go back to the originals? So this doesn't feel as exciting as it could be. Hilarious how it just accidentally went live on the eShop though, what a blunder.

£20 for a 20 year old game with no online or extras or sail the high seas for free, hmmmm tough choice
I guess the feature they're banking on is Pokemon Home support, which makes it somewhat surprising they don't have it supported out of the gate. I can understand it for the new games since you want to give people some time with all the new stuff before throwing the rest at them, but here it's just a bit odd.

the G.O.A.T

this is my first pokemon ever, I still remember when I was a kid I tried to throw a bunch of pokeball in a trainer battle, don’t know how to catch a new pokemon, and trying to use my charmander to defeat starmie which doesn’t end well

So these are coming directly to the eShop rather than to their NSO GBA app?
That would make them the first "Virtual Console" titles, right?
Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 don't count imho as they are remasters and got a new main menu and stuff.

Anyways:
1. I'm not paying 20 bucks for such old games (lol).
2. I'm not playing the vanilla games when there's a thousand better romhacks, even vanilla enhancements (if you're not looking into the likes of Unbound, Radical Red and such).

So no, thanks, Nintendo.
PKMN Home support for those fanboys of yours is nice though I guess. :D

This isn't about practicality, it's about paying for memories.

EDIT: It seems there’s no Chinese version, I won’t buy it.

That come to Switch 1, not just Switch 2 only.

I don't like the price, I have the miyoo mini, 3DS, 2DS, moded Switch and so on to play this.

But I'll probably get it anyway because of family going to play it too on there.

The price is a bit high in my opinion, however I’m glad of two things:

1. The OG Switch is supported - this means you should be able to import your OG GBA saves on a hacked Switch and send them over to the Switch 2.

2. It's not locked behind an online sub.

In the event Pokebank / Poke Transporter stop working, its good these games will be accessible another way.

Shame they aren't doing a physical release.

20 bucks is a bit steep for basically just a rom with an emulator combined. Would have been nice if they gave it free to NSO+ subscribers.

I'll most likely still get it, or just replay my originals, but it's a cheap cash grab. I hope at least they'll include the events, or do them on a later date.

Honestly the most exciting aspect of this release is that it'll likely be possible to rip the save file from my actual cartridge and inject it into the switch version to upload my Gen 3 pokemon to home... I wonder if Nintendo seeing me upload an original Jirachi from Pokemon Colosseum's bonus disk via the Nintendo Switch version of Leaf Green is enough to warrant a ban? Guess I'll see.

That was already possible with a modded 3DS.
