UPDATE 2/7/26: Solution edited in at the bottom of my original post.

Hello.

I'm having difficulty troubleshooting a problem with modded GameCube games in Wii USB Loader GX which I believe is related to the game IDs and memory card saves.

To be more specific, I have 3 versions of Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door installed on an external hard drive. (The hard drive works perfectly with hundreds of other games, so it's not a hardware issue). The first two versions are modded (Book of Mario Thousands of Doors and Paper Mario TTYD Plus), while the last version is an unmodified vanilla ISO which works just fine.

When using USB Loader GX with modded games it requires the game ID to be modified in order for the modded games to show up as separate entries in the game library, so I altered the game IDs for the two mods to (BOME01) and (PMVE01). I made the ID edits using DAT Texture Wizard. Both mods boot up fine but crash directly after saving the game for the first time and then beginning the very first battle in the tutorial. I checked the external hard drive afterward and it appears that both modded games made their own unique saves titled (BOME.raw) and (PMVE.raw).

I suspect the problem is still probably related to saving. I would greatly appreciate if anyone can help troubleshoot the exact cause of such an error and explain how I may be able to fix it. Is there something else that needs to be altered with the new game IDs? Do I need to somehow alter normal save data in either .gci or .raw format to match the ID? I'm concerned that this could become an issue with other modded games too that I've altered the IDs of, but initial testing with saving in Kirby Air Ride and Smash Bros Melee mods haven't revealed any problems.

UPDATE 2/7/26: I don't really understand exactly how the problem was fixed but I can explain the steps I took. Also I think the issue was caused by having a modified vanilla save file for the Shufflizer mod (which only requires the modified save file and a Gecko code to work). Despite the other mods having different game IDs there must have been a conflict somehow. What I did to fix it was to wipe all of them and start fresh. When reinstalling the mods other than Shufflizer I edited their game IDS to be different, and only tested them out once that was done. I think that originally I didn't edit the IDs before testing the mods for the first time which in turn led to the corruption since one or more IDs were conflicting at that time..
