'Hoy everyone! I'm finally able to start working on something that I've wanted to do since I was 10: translating OoT into Dutch!
I'm using Skawo's Zelda 64 Text Editor for this, which supports way more revisions of the game than I remember it doing at first (Master Quest debug ROM only??).
As someone who speaks Dutch as their native language and would constantly be faced with the fallback English localization as a kid, I've always wondered why they never really bothered. At least, until the Wii U released. Now that I'm in the role of localizing this game, I kind of feel like it isn't that much of a 'hassle' and actually find myself to enjoy it! Only hurdles I've encountered so far are certain text box limitations + item names without a clear name.
I mainly base myself off of the English and Japanese text, but for certain things I also use French and German. I'll periodically post my progress here as I get more lines done, and at some point I'll also work on the UI elements, though that's what I'll do after text. Also, I am from Belgium, so some words I use might not exactly be 'Algemeen Nederlands/General Dutch', though I do try my best to use words that are used in both Belgium and the Netherlands! Personally, I don't speak any dialect within Flemish, so any words from those I won't use.
