How real is the possibility of a softmod exploit?

While we can never say never with absolute certainty, it looks quite unlikely that the Switch 2 will get a software exploit. If it does then when becomes an issue. If it comes out after the Switch 3 is released then most people will say "well better late than never but I won't actually use this".
If you're not putting any time limit on it, then wait for quantum computing and crack the encryption. Otherwise, outlook not so good.
Chances are the Switch 2 implements quantum resistant encryption.

Very very low it was already rare to have an exploit the same year on the switch 1 i think it will take 2-3 years that there is homebrew and even it will probably be a hardmod so soldering like xbox 360 rgh 3 or the switch picofly / hwfly

Even a hardmod is a LOT harder. The thing has a LOT more chip protection this time around.

We're reaching quantum physics levels of probability here, huh?
No. Quantum physics is weird enough that you can say that there is a non zero probability that a switch 2 soft mods itself. Of course that would mean over an extremely long time.

The definitive answer here is simply that:
No one (publicly that is) knows, and nor will they unless someone comes out with new information on this,
it's essentially a desert out there in regards to information about the possibility and or an actual exploit
there IS no exploit and no one is for certain there will BE an exploit, it's also worth noting how the SW2 is
basically 1 big DRM, it's why I was not surprised about the MIG switch on SW2 fiasco as most should have known it would
brick months before as nintendo made a statement warning something like this could happen given the appropriate criteria
this is similar to the stargate situation on 3DS.

in short: no one publicly knows nor will we unless someone who's cracked the case makes a GBAtemp post explaining said exploit, or a Switch2.hack.guide is made

Not impossible but it would probably take longer than the heat death of the universe.

With the current build of HOS? Basically zero. Really only chance is if they somehow fuck up a future update. But chances are they have some people who's entire job is to review code just to check for exploits.
I don't keep up much with the hacking scene, but have the exploit devs looked into the new Switch 2 features yet? It's only been out for 2-3 months, I don't think they've done a thorough review so far.

But I don't disagree with you; it's unlikely that they introduced a new entrypoint with the Switch 2.

100% guaranteed eventually.

As long as you don't specify a timeline.

May be a year, may be 5, may be 10, may be 20.

But yes eventually there'll be a softmod. This is pretty obvious and a pretty dumb question to be honest. The only thing to debate is 'when' and honestly no one talking here will have any context on that.

Xbox 360 took 20 years, ps vita took 4 years.

How real is the possibility? You wait 2+years after release to find out. With Nintendo suing/banning every fly that lands on their $hit no one seems to have the motivation to look for an exploit. The hacked Switch1 is doing well supporting new updates - makes me want to get my oled modified for better handheld play.

I got a switch 2 at launch and haven't played anything on it. Having played nearly everything exclusive on the switch 1 for free, I have no interest in buying any Switch 2 games as Nintendo's stuff tends be a 7/10 at best these days. I'm giving it a year, if there isn't any hard or soft mod of MIGS2 by then i'm just going to resell it. Save for the slim possibility the S2 actually gets some killer apps.
