I tried the new version and installed the new d2x cIOS for better compatibility with VC/Wiiware titles, but Castlevania Rebirth gives me a black screen after the game loads. I get to see the wiimote warning and the Konami logo, but then it black screen. Anyone got an idea why?

It was working before, using v.1281 and Sneek.
you need the cIOS 250 base 57 and then set that game to use that cIOS and it should work

on r1281 i could switch aspect ratio for resident evil remake from 4:3 to widescreen using force 4:3 option but not in r1282
Do you mean your Wii is set to 16:9 and you're trying to force the game to 4:3? Or is your Wii set to 4:3 and you meant to say you're trying to force the game to output at 16:9?

Another question. Is there a way to run 4:3 games (Wii games, like Wario Ware: Smooth Moves, and GameCube games too) on pillarbox, while my console is set to Widescreen (16:9)? Changing TV settings every time I run 4:3 game is not an option (of course I know what it works and why I would get worse graphical results than leaving console settings and changin TV's ones).
Unfortunately that's only possible with vWii.

Castlevania Rebirth requests IOS 53 and is compatible with IOS56, so as long as you're using the loaders default settings and you have d2x v11 beta 2 installed correctly then it should work with the auto setting.

In general you shouldn't need to modify IOS settings, especially for WiiWare/VC. Although any game that might use IOS38 on Wii will need the upcoming d2x update.

Indeed, it loaded on default settings.

[*]GameCube controllers should now "just work" with Resident Evil 4 Wii edition

Please tell me this applies to vWii in addition to Wii. I've been praying for gamecube controller support for vWii for years.

Incredible work @blackb0x ! I am looking forward to testing this new build soon.

What do your partitions look like? Could you share a screenshot from GParted (Linux) or something like MiniTool Partition Wizard if you use Windows. Avoid using Disk Management though, since that doesn't always show hidden partitions.

It's recommended to always have the FAT32 partition as the first partition. But the fact that you have to use IOS58 at all suggests that the cIOS isn't fully compatible with your USB drive.
First partition is fat32. Active partition. For everything except wii games bigger than 4 gb. Second one is a NTFS about 18.5 gb in size. The whole drive is 1 tb (so actually 950gb actually). Its probably my usb drive indeed, other may not have this problem. So for those i though my comment would be useful.

I’ve noticed that if you force 4:3 in USB loader settings Castlevania will output a far more sharper image than when using standard settings. It’s night and day difference.

I set my vwii to 16:9

On rev1281 To get resident evil remake (4:3) to display 16:9 i usually set aspect ratio to force 4:3

but on rev1282 test ver if i set aspect ratio to force 4:3 & force 16:9 it still display 4:3

it better for you use the nintendont version instead

later night Ill try with the wii version to see if work like you said

I've released a public test version of USB Loader GX r1282 and I've also released d2x v11 beta 2 :)

The changelog and download links can be found in post #1.

d2x v11 beta 2
  • Improved WiiWare & VC compatibility by using some MEM1 safe functions.
  • Improved game compatibility when using base IOS58 by ignoring encrypted USB drives that are used for Wii U games.
  • Added base IOS38 v4380 support for vWii.
  • Enabled Korean key patching for vWii.
  • Fixed a typo that made the FAT module not reproducible.
  • Reduced memory usage for the EHCI module.
Download: https://github.com/wiidev/d2x-cios/releases

Special thanks go to Danny for sending me a Wii U, xerpi for collaborating with me on the cIOS, and nully for the updated theme.

In my Wii I did a clean install of the ULGX, new cios releases, create a fresh emunand and all settings in default and Castlevania Rebirth did not work, then i change to ios 57 and work with no problems. On my Wii U did the same and there it runs just fine with the default settings.

can someone please tell-me whats happening?

I just installed fresh copy of (new) usbloaderGX on my sd (test version r1282)

"please install the stable version" error message.

(edit: Blackb0x just informed that wii date/time was wrong, and indeed the problem was solved)

@blackb0x Thank you for the updates! I didn't know you were also maintaining the cIOSes. Could you take a look at some issue? When emuNAND saving is turned on, the Wii drive's LED flashes blue as though it was an HDD. I assume it's a cIOS problem. Is there something that can be done with that?

This is probably asking a lot but would it be easy to get both usb ports working with cios just like cios v10 beta 53 or is it a lot of work.

That's actually a feature. It happens whenever the cIOS is writing to the EmuNAND so that you know not to power off or remove the SD card or USB drive while it's blue.

In the future I might make it optional.

It's a lot of work, which is why they abandoned beta 53 when they realised that it broke a bunch of other stuff. And these days it seems like people are trying to use 1 USB HDD for everything anyway, so it doesn't seem like there's much of a demand for it.

Hey there.
Trying to load Monster Hunter G from disc on EUR vWii. Tried with region unlock option in priiloader and it does recognise the disc, but it gets stuck in a black screen immediately after booting. It seems that it only loads with the "load disc" option in priiloader.
I'm trying to make it work booting the disc via usb loader gx V3.0 rev 1282, but I get the same result as launching the game via home menu.
ClOS config is: Slot 249 base 56, Slot 250 base 57, d2x-v11-beta2

Any ideas?
Maybe dumping the game and not using the disc could solve the problem?

As long as you've setup the loader correctly then it'll remember the setting.

Never install the loader to Priiloader. Instead install the UNEO channel booter.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I always get "Initializing HD" and the 20-second countdown, and I have to press A to boot with SD card mode.

EDIT: It works fine if I'm loading USB Loader GX from the HBC, but not if using the channel or the channel booter.

EDIT2: Solved by reinstalling the channel. :D
