Sony has delisted Horizon Zero Dawn for PC, with remaster now requiring PSN account to play

A little under four years after its PC port, and PlayStation has delisted Horizon Zero Dawn. That's because Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered will soon take its place, with the original game now unavailable to purchase on either Steam or the Epic Games Store. The upcoming remaster of the game will be out on October 31st, meaning those who didn't grab the game before it left digital storefronts won't have long to wait, however, the new release will feature a mandatory PlayStation Network account requirement--something that the original did not. This has been a controversial sticking point for most of PlayStation's PC ports, with most of their library, including single-player titles such as God of War Ragnarok and Until Dawn needing players to have a PSN account to link, even if they're only interested in playing on PC.

For those that live in countries where they're unable to create a PSN account, or want to have an offline copy of the game, Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition is still being sold on GOG.

Meh; I'd rather play modded games and indies at this point in my life, anyway.
Why would you do such a thing? Indies are cheaper and better quality than AAA games. Even worse, they sometime are crowdfunded.
(Note : I was being sarcastic and I totally approuve what you said)

Sorry for my interruption but in europe steam store i see the old horizon bundled with remastered with the first still not requiring PSN Account. So no old one was not delisted but bundled.

PS5 has no games and when they're making pointless remastered slops for games that were already slop to begin with, they still bless us with it, with the nice price tag that comes along.

Thanks Sony but no thanks. Good thing that Helldivers 2 is run by Europeans, they have the decency to spray the game with some Febreze so we don't smell your ass.
Curious its sony ass smell like roses or rotten?asking because to see how many people think about it

Unsurprising. Someone at HR must have had a conniption after realising the uglification pass for Aloy's model didn't make her nearly ugly enough, and those "far right gamer chuds" still saw a woman when they looked at her.

All these desperately predatory monetisation efforts are just a mask - the easiest way to make money would be to please the customer, but that would be capitalism, and would make the activist investors very unhappy. The Modern Audience isn't some kind of new generation with whacked out sensibilities, it's investment capital from the old men who robbed the German Jews last century.

Well if they smelled like roses we wouldn't need febreze to cover it

Game is $15 on cdkeys, then you can just spend the extra $9 for the upgrade. Everything for less than $25. Fuck paying sony RRP for it when the alternatives are still there.
Why would you buy a key when you can get it for free ? That's the best alternative

But the question is: if you buy that bundle, are you able to play the original version without having to download the "Remastered" part, or does the "Remastered" tag effectively replace the entire game (including if you "upgrade" to it if you already have the original)? If it's the former, then one could arguably avoid the PSN requirement if it wasn't retroactively added to the original.

If it's the latter, however, then no, you can't truly buy the original if the "Remastered" tag replaces it upon purchase/download anyway (especially if just "upgrading" to the Remastered version replaces the the original game). So for countries that PSN doesn't support, it might as well have been delisted entirely.

Steam will allow you to keep and install the previous version prior to the remaster if you bought both iterations. Steam has done this practice in the past for all its games that offer a "remastered" variant alongside the original, and they have had a good track record of doing this so I don't foresee it changing anytime soon.
