Thank you @ploggy
Btw, do you think yabause emulator could get that green overlay fixed? Thanks
I tried with @Zeox-gamer to get it working but nothing I did made any difference.. It's going to take someone who knows what they are doing lol
It does the same thing on a Wii Core version I compiled too so its likely an Endian issue. We just need someone who can debug and code :P

Hello ^^,

A few news about Yabause, I get 30 fps on average... I have made a video on YouTube in oder to inform more people about Yabause on Wii U HAVE, for the MOMENT, problems but it could be very great (play with the Wii U GamePad controller, more than 2 humains players, no more persistent image)... And maybe (I hope) have help...

Otherwise, I have never tried, is it possible to play online games with Mame ? (Like Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo with Mame FinalBurn Alpha for example).

Great news!
Sorry but how did you fix that green overlay? (Edit: actually blue color, I have night mode activated)
Thanks

Edit: I just discovered your yt channel @Jilou . But I see that green overlay issue still persists

This color error is due to an incompatibility with Big Endian on the Wii u. I tried to find some answers on how to solve this but I'm not able to compile the core on my version of Windows and I also didn't find anyone who could help with why this occurs. yabause wii has colors but when you compile both the core for the wii or for the wii u via retroarch the cores look like this, unfortunately to solve this you will have to wait for someone interested to understand how to solve this and be able to compile

I tried to look for help and someone who could help but I didn't find anything
For me, I would try this emulator, you just need to adjust the core and have a Dynarec one day, in the meantime, the way and still stay on the Yabause Wii with the terrible controls of the Wii lol

For the color/endiannes problem you might want to take a look at changes done by pcsx rearmed team:
https://github.com/pcercuei/RetroArch/commits/xbgr1555/ for Retroarch
https://github.com/pcercuei/pcsx_rearmed/commits/xbgr1555/ for PcsxRearmed
There they use the native pixel format matching the actual data format emulator is generating (16 bit xbgr555). Of course it might be very different with this emulator.

Also, try using my new audio driver for Retroarch - it should give you more time for emulation on the main CPU core. Take a look at the source patches in the attachment, I can also help you with setting it all up.

Yes, the blue color is still here.

Thank you, i hope this will help . I'll try the audio drivers tonight.

Edit : I spent my night to try improve the sound but I failed :& I'm very awful in informatic :& what should I do with this patch audio please ? Where do I put these files ?
You're welcome if someone wants to try too and shared is experiment !

nothing work

Hey guys BIG announcement time lol

The Aroma Port that has been in limbo for the last year due to the issue with slow Core loading/Rom loading has been fixed thanks to a new Aroma CFW update :D :D :D
This means Retroarch on Aroma is now back on the table! I tried a bunch of the Core's I compiled last year and they seem to run fine and Core swap as they're supposed to. heh :)

Downside is Core's that require Jit such as PS1 and Picodrive will have to be reworked to work properly with Aroma but the rest should work fine :D (SEE EDIT BELOW)

Vid of Aroma RA in action...

Here's a full Retroarch package with Cores and a Retroarch wuhb file so you can have a Retroarch icon to launch from the Home Menu!

Don't mix Tiramisu Retroarch Cores with Aroma ones and don't attempt to update your Cores through Retroarch... Your asking for trouble if you do ;)
Best to rename your current Retroarch folder if you have one, the link I've posted has the Retroarch folder all setup so its just a straight extract to SD root, insert sd, load Aroma then load the Retroarch icon (white instead of black) :P

Try it and post any issues you have and remember this is a test build ;)

https://www.mediafire.com/file/975e3lc5jo0j2h2/Aroma_Cores_Extract_to_SD_Card.zip/file
(CHECK MY EDIT 3 BELOW FOR THE NEWEST BUILD)

EDIT: Thanks to the work of @Vague Rant we now have working Pcsxreamed and Picodrive Aroma Cores!!! (included in the link)

EDIT2: If your getting audio issues with the PS1 Core do this:
Go into the RA Settings and change the Audio Driver to Axpro
Change the audio Sample Rate to 44100
Load a PS1 game and save a Core Override (in the In-Game Menu) this will save you having to keep changing the Audio Driver/Sample Rate everytime ;)
Audio issues should be fixed!

EDIT 3: A new and improved build is available that adds....
  • More cores have been added, we should be pretty close if not the same as Tiramisu in terms of core compatibility. Thanks to Vague Rant, Maschell, QuarkTheAwesome
  • PS1 Core should have another perf bump too, with extra threading additions to the ingame options menu. Thanks to vrda :)
  • We now have the ability to open the WiiU Menu and close Retroarch with the Home button. Just like an official app :D Thanks to Maschell
  • Added ability to use Threaded Video.. Option added to Video/Output Setting. Thanks to vrda
  • RA's Assets (which was the cause of the slow loading) is now built into the Retroarch wuhb, so it doesn't have to read it each time you switch Core/load rom, that helps loading speeds massively!
  • Other misc changes I cant remember right now :P

This is the best build for Aroma RA until the PR gets merged to Libretro :)

Heres a new build to test, for now the above build is still preferred since it has PS1 and Picodrive (32x) support, only use this build if you want to test for yourself.

There has been a few changes compared to the last Aroma build..
SD:/ path is back, going forward SD:/ will be the main path for Retroarch. :) this does mean there is some kind of cross compatibility with Tira CFW now but in my quick tests loading Aroma cores on Tira was pretty slow :/ (but it did load) :P
(Note: Aroma Pcsxrearmed/Picodrive and maybe Amiga cores wont play nice on Tira due to Dynarec/Thread changes between Aroma/Tira CFW's so probably best to still keep Aroma/Tira cores separate) :)

Core sizes have been reduced by a couple MB too!

If all goes well this will be the version of Aroma RA that will make its way to Libretro buildbot, so please give it a try and post any RA issues you find :)

Note2: This version does have some main cores missing (Pcsxrearmed/Picodirve/Amiga this is because of the lack of Dynarec and Thread support that was implemented separately by @vrda in the previous build, but hopefully once this test build is given the all good and added to the buildbot those changes will be added back pretty quickly.

I will still Leave the link to the older build in my sig since that has the missing cores :)
LINK

EDIT4: Time for another build :)
  • The new build is updated to a more current Retroarch (12/05/26)
  • Pcsxrearmed and Picodrive Core's now compiled with latest Aroma
  • Mame2010 Core added (maybe be buggy)

Tried this out this morning before going to work. Initially it loads fine for me but as soon as I pick load content I get a DSi error every time I try it.

When I get in from work I will clear everything from my SD card and try again and see if that fixes the issue. Will also post a pic of the DSI error if it happens again.

(Edit) I'm home from work and everything working fine.

I forgot the golden rule of RetroArch. That being if it's not working delete the cfg file and it normally fixes all problems lol.

Amazing work with the Aroma port, it works great, aside from ocassional random crashes in the menu. But emulation itself has been working flawlessly. And it even works with Aroma plugins so I can finally turn off the Gamepad if I don't need it.

Will the Aroma builds be the official ones going forward?

No just the Peops build for now but hopefully soon we'll get an updated build ;)

HA ha, ahhh its nice to see the Retroarch.cfg weirdness has been brought over from Tira RA lol... Now it feels like home :)

The long term plan is for Aroma to eventually overtake Tira as the main Retroarch port but for now Tira is still the official port and will be on the Retroarch Updater and stuff.

This could be a potential front page news, would you mind if I make an article on this?
I feel like RA on Aroma has been a long time overdue, and I'm really happy to see if finally becoming a reality, even if my own U has been long gone for almost 2 years now. :P

Sure I can wait on Quark's response :P
And for the sticky threads, I'm not sure, I don't have the same permissions as mods have from what I know.
