In a nutshell, here's how my wiikey experience went

1.WIRE INSTALL
2.UPDATED TO 1.9G
3.PLAYED SMG
4.PLAYED SMG ANOTHER TIME
5.ONE DAY I TRIED TO BOOT MP3 BUT AFTER I EJECTED SMG IT NEVER READ ANOTHER BURNED DISC... EVER, YET IT HAD THE SMG IMAGE IN THE DISC CHANNEL BEFORE I EJECTED IT.
6.NOW EVERY TIME I TURN IT ON IT GIVES ME A "PLAYTIME" MESSAGE FOR THE LAST TIME I PLAYED SMG, ABOUT 1:21, EVERY TIME.

it was already at 3.1 when I installed, never updated when it worked.

sorry for caps, c/p'd from my post on another forum.

No. Original games still work though. I was wondering if maybe I should update to 3.2 and try then

Maybe not real wiikey

The same thing happened to my Pal wii installed with wiikey.

My experience pretty much went the same way as yours.

1.Wire Install
2. Had 1.9b for quite some time.
3. Updated to 1.9g in order to play dvd 5 brawl.
4. Brawl was working for a good 2-3 weeks
5. One day i turned on the wii and it now doesn't read any backups.

I've read around that this happens to 1.9g alot. I would use the recovery disc, but obviously that won't work aswell. Anybody know what to do about this?

Any help would be great, thanks!

Sometimes wiikeys just die
Never happens if you dont do a 1.9g update
But ive come across 4 or so, and I have done close to 800 or so wiikey installs.

Not common, but it happens
you will need a new wiikey

Open it up and check if its a loose wire.
I had the same thing happen.

It will work flawlessly then randomly you turn it on one day and its not reading backups.

thats why i will never update to 1.9g.
gonna get the original brawl when it comes to europe.

Actually even though mine is authentic, I am not 100% confident in the chip. That's why I did a wired install...so I can just cut the wires if something unfortunate were to happen.
