They did it at the Best Buy in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada. That's a brand new location, we didn't have one so close before.

Well, it's just a console. There will be more of them. Sony plans on selling a minimum of one hundred million consoles, and possibly more, in the future.
The same goes for Wii, and for the X360. They paid for it, they can do whatever they want with it. They may call destroying it "art", they may call it a "social study", others may call it the "influence of Jackass". I call it a pretty pointless publicity stunt.
I don't approve, I wouldn't do it, but I won't lose any sleep over the idea of someone else doing it either.

Steamroller, monkey cage, liquid nitrogen, high altitute drop, firehose + brick wall...
Gimme 10 minutes and I'll come up with 20 more interesting ways to do this.

Catapulting it into a brick wall, through a stream of evaporating liquid nitrogen, so that it freezes instantly, and breaks like glass into millions of tiny fragments on impact. Then air it in slow motion.

But to what end? I don't know how much money they made off of donations, or how much money they plan on making through advertising around their video, but do they have anything else they were trying to get our attention to, or is that all they do?
Oh well, there is money to be made from "smash my whatever", I see, and with so many new things coming out for them to smash, I can see a bright future for their enterprise, but if that's all they wanted to turn our attention towards, it's pretty pointless, isn't it?
I know there are people who will want to watch this, but I consider their lives pretty pointless, too.
