Hi all,

today i've been trying to install HBC and USB Loader GX on my girlfriend's parents wii and i managed to fail pretty bad. Its a Wii 4.2U. i was able to install HBC but after playing a bit with the iOSes... i got into some big problems. Now the channels dont work anymore, as soon as i click and start to load one, the console restarts. Stupid as i am i formatted the Wii and i cant install the HBC anymore (it wasnt even working after the iOS thingy, it was just restarting the Wii.) i messed everything with the DOP-iOS. was following this tutorial http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/ha.../trucha-bug-4-2

Bannerbomb still works so i can load any dol and wad, i just dont know what to do to virginize the Wii and start all over.

Can someone help me ?

thanks a lot

Hey there... had the exact same issue as you today after using DOP-IOS mod 11.4

Did a syscheck. Then reset the Wii.

Every channel load would reboot the Wii and the disc channel refused to run any games.

Fixed it luckily.

Formatting the wii didn't fix it. Neither did manually reinstalling all the old IOS revision (for 3.2), nor did reinstalling 3.2 itself fix anything.

What worked:
First loaded bannerbomb with Hackmii Installer.
Exited so that it loads HBC.
Loaded Anytitle Deleter mod v6b
Since its a system menu 3.2, deleted all IOS above ios36.

After it was fixed. Reinstalled all the IOS above IOS36 using DOP-IOS 11.4 and it still continued to work fine.

Suspect that the syscheck is messing up the wiis.

Don't know what fixed it from these actions, but the Wii is running properly again... somehow.

I also had 11.4 brick a wii, although mine ended up fully bricked (thanks bootmii). Stick to an older version.

They really need to stop adding more features and work on squashing bugs. I used 11.0 & 11.1 when they came out and had to file 2 bug reports within a day.

As for fixing it, since the wii is 4.2 already, try just updating the wii.

If it doesn't help, run an older DOP-IOS MOD (try 11.2) with bannerbomb and reinstall every IOS it will allow except IOS70. Say no when asked about applying patches. If it was an IOS issue, this should fix it, but no guarantees.

sounds like that system check in the new version is at fault.
No no, I mean what is it doing to mess up Wiis.

Seems odd, is it even writing anything to the Wii?

probably corrupting them in some way when it checks their attributes.
Well yeah, it's obviously causing something to happen, I just wondered on the specifics. I guess no one has been able to check into it.

im pretty sure someones taking a look at it.
rest assured.

The creators are already aware of the problem

This is why I always mirror the files on the CSG, so when they update it, we can test it first
But apparently, someone has been lazy and just put a link to the dop-ios site

Just updating the Wii didnt work for me neither.
i'll have to use another DOP and reinstall the iOSes. i hope it will work !

btw, what does DOP stand for ?

thanks a lot, more advices are always welcome.

i'll give you my report tomorrow evening.

Oh and just wondering, would it be a good idea to make a NandBackup of my other Wii (first model, 2007) and replace the one on this new Wii (2009) ?

Bad idea. That's just a brick waiting to happen.

If you really wanted to try and risk the bricking, you can use Betwiin to convert a dump. The below requirements must be met though:

* Boot2 must be equal or newer version on the old wii than it is on the target wii. Older version on source wii = brick
* Boot1 must be the exact same version on both wiis. Different versions = brick.
