If you don't already know, CrystalTile2 is one of the best NDS ROM hacking tools available. It combines the functions of a hex editor, disassembler, tile editor, NITRO filesystem browser, and more into one very versatile and useful tool for any NDS ROM hacker. The program has been mostly translated from Chinese for us English speakers. According to the about window the program was made by a fellow named Crystal and translated by tempers cory1492 and FAST6191. Much thanks to them and anyone else who may have helped in the the creation of this amazing program.

That said something odd has been done, seemly intentionally, so that the usual place to get this program is just a circle of redirects. You can try for yourself at this blog post by the person who maintains CrystalTile2. Both the latest version and the second to latest are unavailable as of this writing.

I'm not sure why this was done, but as someone who had the chance to use this program I feel compelled to see to it that it remains available to those who want it. So download away.

As you're bound to notice this particular version of the program requires a "registration". I'm not entirely sure of the reasoning behind that, but for now at least I won't attempt to provide my copy preregistered. You should be able to register your copy by following the steps below.[*]Run the executable once; it should create a new ini file labeled CrystalTile2.[*]Open said ini and copy the line beginning with "user_id="; this is your unique ID.[*]Paste this line into a new email addressed to wannya*AT*qq.com; title it CrystalTile?? and send.[*]Hopefully you'll get a reply with a new line beginning with "sp=". Copy and paste this into the ini file a line below the user_id line.[*]Run the executable again and it should launch the full program. Please let me know if you get a reply back from the author or not. And should you know what the cause of this download situation is, I'd love to hear that too.

The latest version is 2009.09.14, which I have a download link to in the first post.

Older versions don't need registration, but I've noticed major bugs all the way up to the second to most recent.

Well unfortunately I can not run any version after Janurary 15 2009, it seems they dropped support for Windows 2000, completely, since.

PD: How long does it take?
It only took a few hours for me, but that's assuming the mails are still being replied to. LMK if you get a reply.

just curious, for a non programmer like myself. Exactly how do you make your own plugin using the source provided for CT2?
No programming experience here... So please be specific?!

So has anybody gotten a reply?

@rastan: I'm guessing you have to know some programming, but I've never looked into it.

you have to be specific in your email, and even then you don't really need this version I only downloaded the new version for the plugin thing (I'd like to add somethings myself).

The pre-registration version is actually working better for me than this one... oh and it took 6 days to get a response. the first time I got a mailer deamon and the second time I paid attention to how they wantee the email done and did it.

I don't know... I've noticed some bugs that only seem to be fixed in this version. At any rate, I personally got my copy and got it registered a couple months back. I only ask for the sake of other people.

Randomly ran into this topic and just wanted to state the situation over in China right now.

Seems the government there is trying very hard to crack down all pirate/porn/gamble and anything related to it, including online communities, since about two or so years ago, maybe even longer. This is probably the cause of the registration. (A few forums I go on had to move their server outside China in a recent crack down, that's how bad it's going on over there.)

CT2's maintainer seem to gone through a recent domain change too, hence why the blog was down. Something about you have to register your domain to some official agency in China and need to go through a check to make sure it's not hosting any "bad" things, etc.

I'll try to do that register bit too but am having a really hard time finding an email that's 16 letters or less. xD

I'm waiting for the answer too :3

I get the reply now, 1 day after I wrote the email

Just give it time, he seems to be responding.

Seems he's also fixed the odd redirects on his site as well, so if you want to use the official download go ahead. You'll need to register it regardless though.

So this is considered piracy-related? Lame. Thanks for the info though, good to know it's not just the author being dumb. What is this 16 letters or less email thing all about?

Japan and the US with their DRM regulation and goverment are on the verge to this act.

Well it's working. I just emailed the creator with my user_id setting yesterday, and recieved my "sp=" setting the today.
So the responding is pretty quick.

Well, it's a bot.

I had no idea lol. It should be easy for anyone to get a response to a bot then.
I am curious how the user_id generates such a long lettering sequence.
Also the user_id changes each time you start the application.

I tried to build a generator using hex calculations and I cannot figure it out at all.
But I did find that the registration for the 2010.4.12 version worked just the same for the 2009.09.14 version.
