Hi there,

Yesterday, by pure luck, I read a post somewhere talking about this. Then, actively searching for it, I've found other posts too saying "are you sure you are not in 4.2?" (to somebody who was complaining about a region free game), but I couldn't find anywhere as to why whis happens! Not even WiiBrew mention anything of this under the System Menu 4.2 entry, although Marcan mentioned it in his new app TinyLoader.

Anyway... I'm still on 4.1 and also using a Wiinja modchip. Can you explain me why this new update breaks the region free in the modchips? Does it add a new check when running games or why is it?

Thanks in advance guys

the system menu itself has different offsets for region free gaming that hasn't been cracked yet.

thats why 4.2 cannot do region free gaming.

ooh i did not see that one coming.

someone should port it to U and J regions

Improved region checking for discs and titles, the system menu now checks the Title ID from the TMD.

furthermore there is already a prelader hack for it http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Preloader/hacks#EUR_4.2
crediar added it already on the 3rd dec
Wow, and this one actually works

? Maybe I can now install the 4.2 Menu finally...

Btw, if anyone wants to port, but don't know how, here's a Tut: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=168...rting+Preloader

Remember: A wrong port has a Brick-Chance...

Here you go:

[Disable 4.2 disc region checks]
version=482
offset=0x8137DC90,0x8137E4E4
value=0x4800001C,0x60000000

[Disable 4.2 disc region checks]
version=481
offset=0x8137DBE8,0x8137E43C
value=0x4800001C,0x60000000

[Disable 4.2 disc region checks]
version=480
offset=0x8137D09C,0x8137D8F0
value=0x4800001C,0x60000000

I can not try it as I am on 4.1U but if it works, offset should be OK as I did a verification on porting Region Free Channels from 4.2E to 4.2U (see bellow) and it ckecked 100% with one here: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Preloader/hacks#EUR_4.2:

[Region Free Channels]
version=482
offset=0x8152DB84,0x81531030,0x8152E06C,0x813B69A8
value=0x60000000,0x4E800020,0x38000001,0x48000028

[Region Free Channels]
version=481
offset=0x8152DA88,0x81530F34,0x8152DF70,0x813B68AC
value=0x60000000,0x4E800020,0x38000001,0x48000028

Wow, awesome! Can this be added to StarPatch 4.2 too?
here you go,
tested against bricking on all 4 regions, but haven't tested if works or not

*Removed* Read the rest of the thread

sorry no Korean right now i'll get it tomorrow sense i can't hook it with a gecko, i'll have to use a hex editor to verify its correct

JP\PAL\USA\KOR

edit: Korean is now Fully supported in download

Thanks Black! I'll try it and let you know!

Sadly I don't have any PAL game for my NTSC U Wii to try, but if anybody gets the chance before I do, please let us know!

And as I asked above, is this supposed to fix the loading from both modchips & software backup loaders (i.e. NeoGamma), or only for the later?

Thanks.

Loaders don't care about what region you want to play, they are all Region-Free. This Hack is for cIOSCRAP/Modchips.

Great then! I 99.99% too use USB loading but I'd love to know that I could run other region games with my modchip in case it failed.

So Black; what''s the name of the patch in StarPatch? And so, if someone could get his hands on an another region game to try with a modchip, let us know.

Thanks!!

Same as in preloader
edit: If Some could let me know if the region free works correctly i could then update Wiibrew Thanks

And korean is now fully supported in the download above

Im confirming that the code for the (U) version does not work. I tried my PAL copies of "Another Code R" and "New Super Mario Bros Wii" and neither of them show up on my disc channel.
