And I can't see where the hate is coming from. Sure, the game's got its flaws, but every game has.
To me, it controls real nice, the graphics are very good (I have SMG, so I know what I'm talking about). The Story Mode is a bit too easy IMO, and playing through the same thing again in True Story Mode is quite dull, but the small stories behind each character really make up for this. (To be honest, I bought the game cause it was Castlevania and because of Maria's story, that should be on YouTube somewhere)
The art style is also very nice, but that might be because I'm a fan of Death Note's art style (same artist). There is, however, a bad side to this: you don't really recognize some castlevania characters and instead you recognize characters from Death Note. A shame, but well...
There's also lots of different modes, for example Castle Mode. You fight different enemies, with or without handicaps, and by doing that you unlock doors for a new battle, until you reach the final door, behind which hides Dracula.
By achieving certain goals you unlock new accessories to dress your characters up. It's lulz to see Simon with wings, or a funny hat or something.
Also, there's not 13 characters for you to play with like stated in the manual, but there's 14, the fourteenth one is this game's 'bad guy'.
Like in any good fighting game, there's also an arcade mode, a survival mode, a training mode and so on.
Overall, I'd give the game an 8.2/10. It's good.
