I'm looking to get into this Wii hacking thing, but there's just so many different various methods and there's no real pro/con list of any method. Which method should I use to hack my Wii? I'd obviously prefer the easiest one. I do have Zelda:TP (Got it on release) as well as an SD card, as well as DVD-R's, DVD+R's, and a USB stick.. So what should I use?

i'd use the softmii method. also you might want to look into using bannerbomb to get homebrew, because from what i know it's supposed to work on every firmware there is on the wii.

ZOMG really!?

walkerofthedays sig even tells you how:

Want to softmod your Wii ??

Just do this:

1. Get bannerbomb working
2. Install HBC
3. get IOS wads (only required when the Wii has no internet connection)
4. run TruchaBugRestorer and downgrade IOS15, install patched IOS36 as IOS36, restore IOS15
5. run any cIOS installer you want

Easy as pie !

edit:
step 6 use neogamma or any loader.

It's not necessary to downgrade IOS15 if using cBoot2, and it might be safer IMO.

Not if your a LU64+ User, go with cIOS38 rev13 for now.

You are correct on that.

Most defenetly!

Do not use Softmii. If you do, there is a 50% chance you will be back here saying something along the lines of "I bricked my Wii".

Ultimate 4.0 is the way to go. (this also rhymes rather nicely)

Okay! I got it all installed and everything seems to be working well. I did the 4.0U system menu.

So now, I was wondering. If I loaded backup ISOs on a USB, would they work with the USB Launcher?

You know what, this is bullcrap. I've been trying to get this stuff to work all day and it's ticking me off.

1) Preloader, v0.29. Keeps saying there's no stupid "hacks.ini" file when there is. I did many searches, I put a space at the end, I copied and pasted a new hacks.ini data over it, I rewrote the entire file, I tried everything. The thing is a piece of crap.

2) People can design things such as USBloader, great. I have it on my Wii. Why can't they tell me WHERE i'm supposed to put the games I throw on my USB drive? You know, the stuff most people think of.

I want to play a backup, so where the hell do I put it? Do I put all my games in the root of the USB? Does it have to be an ISO? Like what kind of audience were they catering to, with this lack of important information?

and if you read messages posted by sl33p, your going to have a 100% chance of getting false information/claims apparently.

Could someone help with the above?

1.) Try this: http://www.gbatemp.net/lofiversion/index.php/t149144.html

2.) This information is all over this board dude, don't be a dick will ya ?
You need to create a primary partition, and format it to WBFS, either using your Wii, or a WBFS manager, I recommend AlexDP's version.

With this version, you can add your games easy.

Sorry man, I was getting way too frusturated. Really didn't mean to come off as a jerk, I really appreciate the help I get. So anyways, I followed the ultimate guide, did all the crap to get things running... I don't need anything to play Wii games, as long as i've got the loader, right? I figure the loader is a lot more convenient than anything else. Also, does the loader play GC/VC games?
