07/03/09 - Version 1.3 is out. Please use the repository files that come with the new version. If you have created your own repository files you may need to update them according to the new format. Also you will need to create your config.txt file again as some variables have changed.

07/02/09 - The wiiboxart.com site owner has blocked the version 1.0 of this tool from downloading from the site.
Even going so far to blacklist those IP addresses using it. The new version of DownloadCovers (1.2) currently works with wiiboxart (and other sites as well!) and does not get you blacklisted. However, the site owner of wiiboxart.com may make additional changes to block and ban users of this application.

Updates with 1.3:
- Fixed various minor issues with the program and the sample titlesdb.txt file
- Added more logging and notifications
- Updated and added site image repositories.
- Changed some default values

Updates with 1.2:
- Default site repository changed from wiiboxart.com to T35 host (wiiboxart.t35.com)
- Full image resize capabilites! (images resize locally after download)
- Support for multiple site image repositories. Add your own!(read below for more)
- Comprehensive customization with the config.txt files
- Added more notifications and error checking

Suggestions to improve functionality are welcome!

What does it do?
This tool reads a simple file of titles and downloads any image types you want (normal, widescreen, 3d, full, various disc types) from multiple image repository sources.

You can filter based on region, choose which image types, set download locations, RESIZE, and more - all through a simple config file!

Who should use it?

Anyone who:
1) Doesn't want to pay for boxart from sites that go against the spirit of the open community.
2) Don't have a WiFi connection on their Wii to download art directly.
3) Uses a USB loader that doesn't directly download from the internet.
4) Uses multiple USB loaders and wants to better organize their images.
5) Wants to manage local repositories of images on a local or remote web server.
6) Wants to perform resize operations on downloaded images .

Anyone tested this and confirm its not a rar file full of nastiness?

Also tools like this arent a good idea. All people will end up doing is hammering wiiboxart.com again which will lead to more problems for everyone else. FFS stop being greedy people.

your the one being greedy, they are always preaching that people can still download the cover for free from the site, well that's what people are doing. I'm beginning to think you on commision or your an ass kisser.

It's pretty easy to see that there is nothing nasty in this file...run it by any a/v scanner and it will come up clean.

And a tool like this is no different than any other loader that downloads covers from the site.

Although I will urge everyone to edit their titlesdb.txt files to only download the covers they need.

No commision or ass kissing here. Im NOT paying for covers from anywhere! Just sick of everyone moaning and expecting whatever loader they are using to grab everything automatically

Using this program leaches less bandwidth from wiiboxart.com than if people went there manually and had to load all the full pages and whatnot, which is what they would do anyway if this tool didn't exist. The only downside for that site is that people don't get to see the ads, which Ad Blocker users wouldn't see anyway...

that was the main idea of these things until they decided they could be making money, and most still do it for free. so they have every right still to expect it.

but it's a personal choice what they use, I use the paid version because I cannot be arsed messing around, but I also donated when it was not a requirement.

I love the USB loader and I like the site that it works with, but there is nothing wrong with making people aware of free alternatives.

I completely agree, Sadly most people take it as a given that they should be entitled to use whatever site for free.

Personally im not overly fussed about autograbbing covers as it only takes me a min or 2 to grab whatever I need manually. Shame there isnt an option on USBloaderGX to use a higher res picture

Also lets face it, if everyone agreed with them charging then we would not be having this discussion, but now people are flaming someone everytime they post a link for another download site or a tool that lets them download free covers like the owner of the site said people can still do.

I think its a good tool and the means to prevent people using this tool is entirely up to me from the sites point if view.

It just means i have to recode the site now and move all of the images around to stop it working , but thats my issue and doesnt take away from the expert work on this tool , failing that , the hosting company will shut me down as they have over the last few days , so i dont really have a choice.

Its either fix the leak on the site , or the sites gone , either way , this tool shouldnt last too long but good work on it. well done.

yes i am , and i have stopped this working already

I also had to stop non members frmo getting covers until i can recode the site to allow them back in again without allowing apps like this so sorry non members , but it has to be done.

I think you should make sure the site will last before asking people to donate, And if you really are worried about the cost, move the site to the hosting site that only charges $11 a month unlimited BW and storage, then we will see what your reason for making people pay was.
