I was looking around, and found an online marketplace called cdkeys.com, selling incredibly discounted PC game keys for Steam, GOG, etc. Have any of you used this site before? Is it legit?

Depends on your definition of legit. Sites like it and G2A are basically like eBay. Some are legit leftovers from Humble Bundle and other authorized retailers, and some are from vouchers for games or services that sell physical cards, those are all what I'd say are legit. Then there are gray area codes that might be review codes, I don't know how to classify these ones. There are some people (this is an issue on eBay too) buying games with stolen cards or PayPal accounts, selling the games, and then eventually the rightful owner likely gets the charges reversed. The keys could very well get deactivated in the future meaning you're now out money. These are the bad sellers and bad keys people warn against the site for. There was a game where a ton of keys were revoked because playerd buying the game from G2A sellers weren't getting their keys.

Only buy from sellers with several/tens of thousands of feedback ratings and don't buy any new title on any sites like this. Same goes for eBay. Use PayPal too, because then you can easily get a refund and don't have to worry about your credit card. I believe payments are sent to the company which then gives it to the sellers. Also, if it's too good to be true, it probably is. You're not finding 50% off new titles if they're legit* unless its a review code, and if it's not it's likely fraudulently obtained. Checking what the game goes for during Steam sales is a good way to check prices.

They are kind of legit. I have used them a few times. But the source of the keys are shaky at best. Somebody has to be making a profit off it. It only makes sense that stolen credit cards would be the easiest way to profit. But who knows where they get them from.

That's what I was saying. I always thought those key marketplaces were very sketchy.

If they were keys bought from a stolen CC they'd be revoked/invalidated.

I've bought PSN codes for years from CDkeys, literally hundreds, and never had any issues. I use PayPal just to be safe.

For Steam codes I use Kinguin, they're an intermediary that finds you the cheapest seller of any given game. I've heard tales of keys occasionally being revoked but it's never happened to me. I treat it like a 'demo seller' anyway, if the game is good & runs well then I usually buy a 'proper' copy of it later

I've bought a bunch of games from them over the past few years and never had any problems with them. Just now I bought a steam game. not sure if anyone else has ran into any issues.

I only buy my Keys from Eneba because no Keys I bought were revoked and If a Key was invalid I got my money back without having to pay a special Protection Fee .

Be careful because some Keystores like G2A allow Accounts to be sold.
Ones I accidentally bought a Steam Account because I didn't knew that People are selling single Games accounts, I misread and turned out that this Account was already banned by Steam.

I only used these types of websites once, to buy a steam game that wasn't being sold anymore in the official steam store.
Don't remember having any problems when I bought it, activated it on steam 100%, still have it until today.

I guess the best way is to see if it's simple and direct.
If you'll be able to buy what you want without the site trying to push anything else down your throat to try to pay more money.

I've gone between greenman gaming and them if I wanted to find a deal as I know I can trust them, couple times Fanatical too but they did tend to not have the deals mostly so I've cut that one loose to check.

Isthereanydeal.com is a solid spot to see who has what going on at any time, their personal lowest and total lowest ever and when.

Why are folks even still posting on this thread?

It should always be said that CDKeys is not the safest to use, it's called a 'grey market' site for a reason. You may or may not even get the key at all, and there are plenty of scammers targeting towards game creators that ask for keys so that they can sell them on sites like these, therefore not giving them the benefit to continue making them.

By funding 'grey market' sides, you're relying and supporting cyber criminals commiting credit card fraud but it seems like nobody cares.
