I switch my computer on with a PS/2 keyboard, since my push switch broke
I was playing around with the setting for this in the motherboard bios, where "restore power" can be switched to "power on", rather than "power off".
but when I saved the settings, instead of rebooting, the computer just didn't post with the fans on full. So I switched the power off, then cleared CMOS with the jumper. afer a lot of auto restarts, it finally posted.
but when I went into the bios to redo all my settings, I can no longer put the multiplier above 34 (it's a 2600k) and I can no longer put my memory above 1333mhz (it's 1866mhz memory).
do you think a power surge could have physically broken these things? is the CPU multiplier and the memory multiplier linked? is that why they both only work on a very low setting now?
I suppose I just have to be happy everything else works fine, it's just I feel sad now
