Quick question, if I use the DRC Region Free Plugin to pair an out of region GamePad to my Wii U in Aroma. Will that controller now be permanently paired to the Wii U? Like could I then change from Aroma to Tiramisu and the out of region GamePad would still work on my Wii U? Or do you need to always be in Aroma and have that plugin enabled every time even after the initial pairing?

However, I am not sure if the custom pem file is being loaded at all through SDcafiine or not, I don't see anything different
Well, as you modified the cert you should know which sites should work now, so try to browse to one of them: Does it work?

For reference I also replaced the rootca.pem file:

Instead of editing the original I simply used this through: https://curl.se/docs/caextract.html

Works for me.

You only need the plugin for pairing

Very nice, with that kind of setup, I feel more comfortable in my potential search for another Game Pad, as this should make it possible to find cheaper options for a second gamepad for the potential homebrew that may come from the implementation of 2 gamepad gaming including that initial space game we have now.

Oh that's actually even better than trying to manually edit the WiiU's original rootCA.pem file.
Having a completely updated PEM file for the WiiU to use will most likely help a ton with all of those SSL and certificate issues from the browser.

I'll download that cacert.pem file, rename it and I'll make sure I have the proper directory as you do in my SD so it loads properly.
I'll try this out later today, thanks for the suggestion!

@ShadowOne333 Keep in mind that I'm using a EUR console, so you might need a different path.

//EDIT: Also the file name is rootca.pem, not rootCA.pem... Shouldn't make a difference as FAT is case insensitive but just to be sure... ;)

We don't talk about this topic around these lands, Bub.
Of course we do, it's just a hard userbase split (according to surveys 50% of users are against the limit, 50% want to keep it for weird reasons / cause they think the other half of users must be pirates... Which is just wrong. I for myself don't care about the limit but I can understand retro players fearing the homebrew on menu plugin).

Does this mean you can now bypass the 300 title limit?
No. Launchiine is a WIP to bypass this but not much development interrest atm as there are other priorities (to make this clear: The statement that developers don't care about the limit is wrong! It's just a priority thing).

Just tried it on my end, but can't seem to notice any difference.
Tried some sites I couldn't enter, like Romhacking.net and others, but I'm still getting error 112-1035 when trying to access it.
Does it happen on your end too?

Romhacking.net and others, but I'm still getting error 112-1035 when trying to access it.
For this site I'm getting the same error. Other sites, like github, work through.
Tried to google the error code and it seems it's not about outdated root certs but not supported cipher suites. So sadly replacing the .pem file isn't the key here.

GitHub was working for me before the pem mod, but it's a shame, I was really hoping for more sites to become accessible with this modification.
The cipher suite configuration I'm assuming might require a proper update to the browser? Unlike the PEM stuff which we can dump, modify and add back as either replacement or mod.

Not sure but I think it needs NintendoSSL (Nintendos fork of OpenSSL) to get replaced with something more modern and maybe a patch to the browser. So theoretically possible but a lot of work.... Might be doable as an Aroma Plugin through.

One can only hope :P

this might be a dumb question.

but with aroma do you have the potential to use dolphin HD packs?

if somebody did the right hacks and codes and what not.

sadly no. vwii is a mess of a thing to deal with and aroma doesn't touch vwii stuff (generally speaking). Unless someone created some insane translation layer between gx2 and gx1 (and even assuming said layer would be efficient/enough processing power, enough to outperform gx1...) that's likely never going to happen. (the two gpu's are also very different from what I've heard)

Not sure if it's Aroma doing something or not, but yesterday I played a bit of Black Ops 2 online (through USB), and when I attempted to exit the game by pressing Home and then Close software, the console froze at the "WiiU" image and never got back to the Home Menu.

This happened to me a few days ago as well with the same game.

it could be aroma. Smurfs 2 was not working in aroma environment. you may want to do a github issue if you get it again, and see if other people get it as well
