That isn't happening, given how much of the system you need to disassemble to do an install/uninstall.
Really? It took me like 15 minutes to install it from scratch. As per my understanding, the chip is required only to boot it, later on, it does nothing. My plan is to create emunand so nand can be swapped on the go, however, I am worrying that such steps can burn it.

You're going to be soldering on a hot system, and taking away heatsink while the system is running.

what is with the obsession most switch hackers have with chinese mod chips? its like the "recov/carry" grift from a few years ago and can seriously fuck off.

Of course not. I was going to solder a spare flex cable prior to that. Put together, boot it up to the atmosphere, disconnect the chip and put the nand back.

No obsession at all. This is the only way to mod newer systems, since not patched units are hard to find.

Hey guys, after updating my system to 14.1.1 and atmosphere to 1.3.1 (as guided at the forum), the only game I have installed at the moment is giving me the message "Checking if the software can be played..." and then the error 2124-0220 (A Nintendo Account is required). I've tried LINKALHO e the Fake Nintendo Account option on Tinfoil, but it keeps happening. I've downgraded the OFW to 14.1.0, and still no good...
If anyone could help, I'd appreciate!
Thanks

I'm sorry, but I am not a psychic, am I?

I don't think anyone's ever done this before though, so if you're willing to take the risk, you could try it and report whether it works or not. Personally I don't think it's worth the risk given that you'd need to swap the modchip between consoles every time you needed to coldboot. Very high chances of failure in the long-term.

Note that reboot to payload does not work on mariko. If you get a crash in Atmosphere it relies on the modchip to reboot back into cfw. Same if you wanted to do literally anything that required an Atmosphere restart.

This stuff is not designed to handle being connected and disconnected over and over like this. You might be able to design some kind of box case that the chip would fit into, and use some different kind of connectors to bridge the connection instead, and that would be far more reliable.

That is, if the switch doesn't crash or break from disconnecting the chip while it's powered on, of course.

Even that isn't necessarily guaranteed to work well, either. Adding extra cables and connectors may slightly alter resistances and latencies and that could be just enough for the chip to not work properly.

Either way this belongs in its own thread, I think. You're dealing in way more advanced stuff than what this thread is for.

What game is it? Does it require network? Try starting it in Airplane mode. Do you have exosphere.ini, dns:mitm, 90dns or Incognito in place?

Through some xmas miracle, I was able to find a complete stock v1 switch in near perfect condition for $200 with pokemon diamond. I want to hack this switch and avoid a ban. Full disclosure, I messed up and got my old switch banned during a moment of stupidity. Anyway, I have two main questions before I hack this switch:

1. What is the best approach, right now, for exploiting? Is https://switch.homebrew.guide still the deal?

2. It sounds like Atmosphere blocks contact with Nintendo without the need for Incognito or 90DNS. That being said, what do I gain by allowing the switch to go online from the EMU_NAND? Can I play online games from EMU? Do I need to wipe sysinfo before I attempt that. I'm trying to determine if going online from EMU is even worth anything to me.

lol - again, just looking to avoid ban. All I want is my SYS legit with online access, cloud saves, and my EMU with my other stuff for tinkering and homebrew.

If you allow Atmo from going online you'd want to blank your console ID first, second you can use FTP and Tinfoil by going online, or you can simulate "LAN" play with other players online if I recall

Ah! I completely forgot about FTP.

Can consoles with blanked IDs actually play online games? How does that work with Nintendo's Online service? Or does it?

Yes, you can play online games. Not through Nintendo's Online Service, but through a gateway. I can't recall the name right now, I think It's XLink Kai

Knights Of Old Republic, it was working fine. In Airplane mode it gets an error because can't check the internet. I have Incognito and 90dns working fine.

It's at the EmuNAND... should I just create a new one and try it?

EDIT:
Solved by creating a new emuNAND... lost the game, but it's a minor collateral, at least it's working!

Hello guys, I hope I am in the right thread. I recently bought a jailbroken v1 switch, version 13.2.1 and AMS 1.2.6, with pre-installed games WITHOUT dlcs or update.

At home, I installed the update and dlcs in my switch through tinfoil 13.0 (with tinfoil nut installed in my pc). Since my switch cannot access the folders in my pc through tinfoil, I just manually place the nsp files of updates/dlcs in the switch then use tinfoil to install them.

After a few days, I was able to play them but I noticed the following problems:

1. Several games (most of them with installed updates/dlcs) suddenly cannot start, with a warning error:

"Corrupted data has been detected. Please run a check for corrupted data."

At first, 3 out of 15 games were corrupted but every time I copy update nsps from PC to switch, a game or two will suddenly become corrupted, too.
There are also cases that my PC freezes when a. ) creating a folder in switch sd card (while using tinfoil app in switch) ; b.) transferring nsp games more than 10 gb in size.
I don't know how to test my intuition if the corruption of the games is caused by PC freezing while accessing the sd card.

2. Downloaded nsps cannot be installed, either in tinfoil or in awoo installer:

Tinfoil: "Failed to read NSP metadata. Unknown NCA magic (decryption failed?): 906652268"
Awoo: "Failed to install X game. Partially installed contents can be removed from the System Settings applet.
InstallNCA:110: Invalid NCA magic"

Since my pokemon game got corrupted, I uninstalled it and redownloaded the game. The game won't install with the above message. I tried downloading from a different website and the same error occurs.
Even games that were not previously installed has the same issue.
I tried updating the sigpatches applicable to v13.2.1 and ams 1.2.6 but the same error happens.

I don't really know if this is related to SD card or bad jailbreak or something else.

Something’s fucky. backup your sd card and test it for corruption using h2testw.

Oh thanks man, does that mean I'll lose all my files after I test it for corruption?

Edit: after reading the readme file of that application, it seems I have to completely erase it first before testing. How can I copy back the files after testing to make sure that the cfw is not also removed?

Yes, this is going to be intrusive.

to retain data let’s try the following:
  • Backup your games with NXDumptool
  • Backup your games saves with JKSV
  • Backup you FAT partition using your PC and simply copy paste the available partition.

After the test, format the sd card as FAT32 and create a new Emunand on your sd card using Hekate and then restore the backup onto your FAT32 partition.
