I have formatted my 256g usb flash drive to FAT32 as instructed. However when I enter usb loader gx on my original white wii, I get an error saying "Usb Device Not Initialized". I used wii backup manager to transfer my wbfs games. And I put my flash drive in the slot closest to the edge of my wii. Does anyone know why this occurs for me? If so, how do i fix it?

Hello,

the usb keys work badly with the wii (often black screen or never start)

Use an external hard drive and it should work fine.
post a syscheck report here (link in my signature), please, your hack may not be up to date, thanks

This.

Also sometimes formatting small thumb drives as wbfs instead of fat32 improves compatibility

yes, but nothing beats an external hard drive

 , as they say you have to test several kinds of format with the USB key and see the result.

I found out I do not get an error if I use WBFS Manager.
So what I'm assuming u formatted it to wbfs (like I said here)
This.

Also there are plenty of tools that could format your drive to wbfs, wii backup manager for example can do it and is generally a better tool than wbfs manager

Edit: syscheck looks good enough btw

Do not use that program. It will corrupt your games. Specifically, the corruption happens when adding new games after deleting some.
You can use Wii Backup Manager with a WBFS formatted drive.
since its formatted to wbfs im assuming I need a separate drive for GC games?
You can load GC games from the SD card.

You'll need an SD card to save apps on if your USB is formated as wbfs, unless u manage to successfully parititon it, first partition as fat32 and remainder as wbfs, but this could impact compatibility too so if u try it, you may end up reverting if it doesn't work out as you'd hoped

how do I partition it?
By using a software like "aomei partition assistant" or others, split the drive into 2 partitions & adjust the capacity for each, then formatting one as wbfs and the other as Fat32. Though i don't know if you can partition usb flash drives? And of course backup your stuff before attempting this.

Ok I formatted the 64g split to FAT32 and the RAW I reformatted to NTFS and then formatted to WBFS through Wii Backup Manager. Now I have a 64g FAT32 split for GC and a 170g split for Wii. Should that work?

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.
