I tried this the other day, and it works really well! It's nice to see the boot animation when starting up a game. This will work on both vwii and wiiu modes, as long as you are using nintendont to launch them.

1. You need to find a gamecube bios. The file should be a .bin

2. Rename your .bin file to "iplusa.bin" for US, "iplpal.bin" for PAL, and "ipljap.bin" for JAP.

3. Place your renamed .bin file in the root of your wiiU sd card.

4. Launch nintendont via the vwii homebrew channel, go to settings and make sure "ipl skip" is turned off.

If all went correctly, upon launching a gamecube game, the boot animation should play. I couldn't figure out how to add a tag to this post, so sorry that it is not labeled.

EDIT: I didn't realize that so many people already knew this. Just figured I'd share since I didn't know how to do this before.

Why is half the text almost unreadable? Are you not using darkmode?
Other than that, nice!

this has been a thing since ages ago lol its not new or hidden, its called using the bios and incase you didnt know the gc animation will not boot in pal games on wiiu/vwii since wiiu has issues with the pal bios, only ntsc games and jap ones will play the bios.

And you have to put the iplbios on the correct device. Do you load the gamecube games from sd? Put it on sd. Do you boot from usb, put it on there ;)

But as stated above, this is nothing new.

Don't at all see a need for this thread when the information is already on the official gbatemp Nintendont thread.

Right? Post might as well be informing us that Nintendont exists to play GameCube and Triforce games on the Wii and Wii U's vWii.

Speaking of cube games, does anyone know where to place the bios on the series x? I'd like to test it. Though, I think I like it better when it goes right to the game.

Your post is impossible to read on the dark theme. Press this button:

Why does this thread even exists? The GC bios was added due to fan request, I remember when Fix94 added it after we kept bring it up, I’m fairly sure the Nintenont instructions page even mentions it, in fact, I remember for a while many people thought the bios were needed to get it to work when it’s only cosmetic.

Does anyone know if it is true that the BIOS causes color bleed issues when using it on a vWii, either from the vWii itself or by injection?

I followed this and it works great, nostalgia unlocked. The problem is that with this running, ocarina codes seem to be overriden? Anyone know how to resolve this?
