Neko Project 2 is also available on Android: I used to use it on my tablet; now I prefer to use my PSP.
Be careful playing these games on TV because they are "peculiar": they contain (actually few) so-called hentai (perverted) scenes that might scandalize some wives and shock some underages.:rofl2:
lol thanks for the warning but dont worry, i live alone. (even yu-no is "adult"? I thought it was about time travel)

Anyway, got the Retroarch Android Project Neko 2 working. The controller works as a mix of joystick and mouse, there´s no map option. Far from optimal, but its the first time im playing PC98 games and im pretty happy

Thanks guys for the info and the translation

EDIT:
ive tried neko project 2 - dedicated app, not the core on retroarch - and it just runs that first pc98 numbers and blip. With my remote control i couldnt even find the emulator menus.
Does it allow for mapping save/load states to controller buttons?
In fact... does Neko project 2 support save states? Because the retroarch core doesnt.....

I just released version 1.0 of the patch. The (hopefully) last typos are now history, and the english translated CGs from the Windows version have been converted to the PC-98 format and inserted. Still avaliable at the same link ( https://archive.org/details/yu-no-pc-98-english-rc-1 ) ; don't hesitate to send me a message if you need help.

@BabaJeanmel , I ask this question but I'm afraid I already know the answer. 😅
Is it not possible to convert the voice patch (that is to say, the voice files derived from the sega Saturn version) created for the windows version, so that it works inside the hdi file (increasing enormously the size of more than 600mb)? Maybe the question is stupid but I dare to ask it, in the meager and illusory hope of a positive answer...😁

@SuperNintendo64 Rephrase your questions more clearly! : what do you mean you can't find the emulator menu? If you use Android, install Neko Project 2 apk which is easier to use, not Retroarch.
With this emulator there are no save states; you have to save normally inside the game, when the save option appears, after the introductory dialogues.

Use the fmgen build, I'm not sure regular NP21 supports save state. You also must activate the function in the .ini file.
If nothing comes along when you launch the emulator, you might need the bios/font.

Check this guide, it should have you covered : https://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php?topic=11117.0

The hacker that made the tools I used is experimenting a bit on it. Don't hold your breath, though, it's no small task and it's not even certain that it actually can be done...

And even if it ends up working, it would require tremendous work on each and every single script file to insert the voices. Not to mention the inevitable memory overflow problems that would occur and need correction.... plus reverting the changes made to the script to match what's being said. It would basically require months of works to make it happen. I'm not sure I really want to do it, to be honest ^^

Are you sure there is a version of this for Android, because that is what was being talked about, and that's the OS that person uses.

My mistake. I saw "dedicated app" and thought it was on Windows. I had no clue there was a dedicated Neko Project app for Android...

@BabaJeanmel , Hi. How are you? I noticed, quite casually and with great satisfaction, that Tokugawa Corp Forums are back online and the entire content of the site has been recovered. I am very pleased.
And I saw that you opened a recent thread in the pc-98 section where you deal with hdi/fdi files extracted from Disc Station-something (?). I had never heard of that before. What is it all about?
And kudos for keeping the interest alive on this old, forgotten computer and its many hidden gems, sadly unknown to most.
Don't forget to keep us informed also here, where among other things you would have more visibility, recognition and appreciation. ;)

Disc Station was a magazine issued by Compile, the publishers of the Aleste and Puyo Puyo series (among others)
It included floppies with full games, CG, demos... first for MSX, then for PC-98, and finally for Windows 95/98. Here is a small article about the Puyo-related games published in the magazine : https://puyonexus.com/wiki/Disc_Station
But that's just the tip of the iceberg, there are tons of cool stuff to discover there...

As for my contribution, I just extracted all the games (most of whom aren't avaliable elsewhere) in individual bootable hdi/fdi files for more convenience a few years ago. It was my very first PC-98 related project ! I revisted my files recently, mostly to correct the game names (there were auto-translated at the time, and filled with errors), and reuploaded them.

And yeah, the PC-98 is an awesome platform with a ton of unique stuff to discover. Not to mention a great community !

I'll make sure to let you know about my future projects. ATM I'm still working on Foxy (roughly 40% complete), and will make an update for Yu-No to include some corrections and more english-translated CGs in a couple weeks. There are also a lot of stuff in the works, but I won't confirm anything I'm not personally involved with.

If you had read all the previous posts you would know that you can find the game pre-patched here:
https://archive.org/details/nec-pc-9801-translations
To play it on PC you have to use the emulators Neko Project 2 or Anex86 with the necessary system files: you can find them easily if you search on Google. With NP2, to load Yu-No.hdi just click with the mouse on the hdd option of the emulator and a window will open where you can search for that game on your PC.
With "through dc" I do not know what you mean, so I can not answer.
Otherwise, I hope I've answered your question.

Note: As an alternative solution, you could directly use the win95 version (identical graphic aspect), that you can find pre-patched and even with japanese voice acting (from Sega Saturn version) on a famous site, where you can download eroge games (that obviously I can't name). Search for "YU-NO - The Girl that Chants Love at the Edge of the World": as you can see, the translation is a little different than the modern one.
I used to play it on Windows XP (Pentium II), but to use it on modern systems and PCs you will have difficulties.
I lost my account, just now managed to find it again, I've tried using stuff like this in the past for other older games but have struggled, I'll probably have some questions when trying to download the game properly, and I hope your offer still stands on being able to reply here regarding answering if I have any questions

I’m just curious so is the Pc-98 patch by Baba a new translation or pretty much the same as the original TLwiki version?

I got it running on my ipad through Retroarch and as I much as I love playing it on tablet I think I’m gonna go with the Windows patch since it has voice acting and additional animation.

And while we’re on the subjects does anyone know what kind of CG and how much were added to the Saturn version? Are they subtle or significant differences?

It's the same, exact version.

In fact, the presence of voice acting in the Windows version makes a big difference, but unfortunately "beggars can't be choosers" and we have to make do with this less "cumbersome" and portable version.

I believe that some CGs were added to replace the hentai ones contained in the original pc-98 version.

The PC-98 translation is the TLWiki script, but doesn't include the Saturn script revisions and extra scenes/CGs. It's also uncensored.
