I’m running Luma 10.0.1 and am trying to update to the latest so I can use the Majora’s Mask restoration patch. At first, the Luma updater needed to update to 2.6, but it gave me an error, so I installed the updater manually with the cia.

Now when I try to use the new updater, Luma itself won’t update and I get this error message. Anyone know what’s wrong?

I dont know. But i think u can update Luma with Universal updater, too. Or go easy way download the latest luma version and put it on sd card. If u wrote Luma into the System, so that it runs also without SD Card. U have to do this again.

I checked on github. Maybe a Configuration File is missing. There is a zip. Get it and put everything in the right place. Maybe it works then. Else u can try the 3dsx, too
How easy is that to do? I’ve never updated manually before and I don’t wanna accidentally screw something up and brick lol

By the way, did u tryed to update without the CTR-Nand option? Because Luma seems not to be installed to it, its only on sd Card. And it could only be a temporaraly Download error.

To do it manually. Get the latest Luma boot.firm and change it with the one in the root directory of your SDcard. But back the other up for restoring option, maybe in created directory.

So the boot.firm is the only file I need?

U need Godemode9 as firm on your 3ds for this to boot in it.

Section VI - CTRNAND Luma3DS

  1. Power off your device
  2. Press and hold (Start), and while holding (Start), power on your device. This will launch GodMode9
    • If you do not boot into GodMode9, ensure that GodMode9.firm is in /luma/payloads/ and that payloads is correctly spelled
  3. If you are prompted to create an essential files backup, press (A) to do so, then press (A) to continue once it has completed
  4. If you are prompted to fix the RTC date&time, press (A) to do so, then set the date and time, then press (A) to continue
  5. Press (Home) to bring up the action menu
  6. Select “Scripts…”
  7. Select “GM9Megascript”
  8. Select “Scripts from Plailect’s Guide”
  9. Select “Setup Luma3DS to CTRNAND”
  10. When prompted, press (A) to proceed
  11. Press (A) to unlock SysNAND (lvl1) writing, then input the key combo given
  12. Press (A) to continue

Worth adding that you do need to download the latest version of Luma3DS
https://github.com/LumaTeam/Luma3DS/releases/tag/v10.2.1
You do actually need to set GM9 as the launcher, you can just launch it as a payload from Luma3DS, and then follow these steps

Well wait, I do have Godmode9 already. I’m able to boot into it by holding start, so do I need to do any of this? Sorry, I haven’t messed with any of this in a very long time so I’m quite fuzzy on how it all works. Would it be easier to just try universal updater to update Luma? I couldn’t get it to download with the QR code, but I could use the cia instead.

Download the zip file from the github and extract the file from it. Then copy over the boot.firm to your SD card. From there, boot into GM9 and follow the steps above to update the boot.firm on your CTRNand

Okay, and just copying the boot.firm the first time will update Luma?

Ya, it will update Luma.
To have Luma in CTR- Nand is a Bonus. Then LumaCFW can run without microsd insert. If u want it and If u have godemode9 already on it,so that can boot in it with holding start. Just follow the mentioned steps.

Does GodMode9 need updated? I’m not sure what version of it I have.

Thays easy, too. Get the latest GodMode9.firm and put it in /luma/payloads/ and that it. but be sure u have the gm9 Folder with the scripts on your SD Cards root.
Godemode9 v2.1.0

And if u install Universal Updater, u can easy install and update your homebrew, so i think luma, too.

Okay this sounds as simple as just copying new files to my sd root so I’m gonna give it a go and hope I don’t somehow brick by being an idiot. Wish me luck lol

how do u start on luna without SD... i tryed and it didnt work. i can get inside the config chart, but furthermore i can no see the homebrew or luna icon once 3ds start it main page, all look as original start.

If iam right u normaly get a black screen if u run a jailbreaked 3DS without sd card insert with luma file on it. So if u followed the steps in a previous post with godemode9, luma will be installed inside the CTR-Nand.
After that the system will check for luma file on sd card, if there is none, it takes the one in CTR Nand. Everything else like homebrew or games for sure need the data on the sd card to show up and run.
In luma settings activated, u will see if luma runs in Config menu of the 3DS, if there stand "Sys" infront if your firmware version.
