You can update locally. There should be an option when you press (+) on the game icon to update with a nearby console.

I use JKSV. Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with emulators so hopefully it can import the save data from Ryujinx into your console. Also make sure that you run the game at least once on your console if you're importing save data for a game you never played on the Switch.

Do you have the patches to launch and install backups? If not, you can download them from this thread.

You don't have to dump the firmware files. You can download them illegally from the Internet if you want. Otherwise, you can try dumping the firmware files with the homebrew application, biggestDump.

I would recommend following that guide. Just to clarify, your SD card is formatted as FAT32? If yes, go ahead with the unbricking guide. If not, try using FAT32 first.
To download them makes it easier. Can you recommend darthsternie´s Firmware Archive as a good Source?

It hasn't happened to me, I was asking because if that's the case I know I have to be extra cautious when I boot.

My SysNand backup is from a few days ago. Let's say I do some stuff legally in my SysNand and then I mess up and I boot it with CFW. In that case the backup wouldn't save me from the ban, right? Because I did things AFTER the backup, so the logs wouldn't match.

Am I right?
Yes, from what I've read over the years from those who were banned. You are correct.

I completely forgot that was a function! Thank you Drax! I do not think I have heard of darthsternie´s Firmware Archive before.

Hmm, my Day 1 Switch was hacked on firmware 12. It will not let Splatoon 2 update to 5.5.0 from 5.4.0 until it updates the system firmware to 13.1. I take it I need to install the latest version of Atmosphere as well (or it will not boot/brick my Day 1 Switch?)

Is it safe to update my hacked switch to 13.1.0 manually? I've done this many times before, I could've sworn there used to be a stickied thread that would mention things like this, but the site redesign has me confused, so I guess I might as well ask here?

Well, I have a Redbox Switch I can use to pass the update legally to my other Day 1 Switch. I don't have to get it through...other means. I have never updated Atmosphere before.

Hey guys, I need help re-partitioning my SD.

I messed up during the hacking of my switch. I used hekate to install atmosphere, and during the step in which you are supposed to partition your SD, I partition it into two even 32 GB pieces... the thing is, my SD has 128gb of memory. So there's 64gb of space that are going to waste and I want them back. I am fairly new to the hacking scene and I move around by reading tutorials so I'm scared of messing up by doing it myself so...

Is there a way I can re-do the partition of my SD so I can have a 32gb one and a 96 one? What is the procedure? What type of backup should I do?

Thank you in advance!

Not much reason to not be on the latest version of Atmosphere. Updating Atmosphere is as simple as deleting the old /atmosphere files and folders then putting the new ones on the SD card.

Well its "safe" as in you won't brick your console but unless you want to play online or use the new Bluetooth features in 13.X, there isn't much reason to update to firmware 13.1. No games require that firmware version yet.

I mostly use my clean sysNAND, I just like having autorcm on while I do it. As well as the nocartridge update flag. So, yeah, I want to update because I go online, but I always wait until someone on gbatemp tells me the latest firmware update mess my setup up.

Thanks again Drax. I got it Atmosphere, Hekate, My Day 1 Switch and Splatoon 2 all updated/being updated. Gave me a bit of trouble on the fusse.bin file, but I think I have it figured out. Now I need to update my emuNAND.

This will be a huge help for Splatoon 3 when it comes out when I need to test multiplayer mode.

or just use aio updater from sysnand and update everything through that and tick yes when it asks to overwrite the ini and tick yes at the startupflag prompt

I never booted into sysnand while still having cfw enabled. Is this safe? I still use online play on normal sysnand frequently and dont want to mess anything up.

the most common reasons for blackscreen after updating are : old atmosphere version , systemmodules (those are addons like tesla overlay, emuiibo, mission control etc) and custom themes

if you aint sure about being bannend then do it manually (do a fresh install of atmosphere +hekate just drag drop and overwrite everything or delete atmosphere and bootloader folder and the drag and drop the new folder on to the sd card )

I'm going to give back to the community now, since it's been so good to me. I personally like NSC Builder, you can easily google it, it's created by julesontheroad. Download it to your pc, extract it, and run the batch file. Do the following:
  • Choose Multipack mode
  • Drop your first nsp file your game file into the window [Hit Enter]
  • Drop your second update file into the window [Hit Enter]
  • Choose to Process those files
  • Tell it what output you want XCI, NSP etc
  • Patch firmware required if you want
  • Merge all
  • Install
Done.
Very interesting. I am missing a keys.txt file, though. I assume that sharing a link to it might be against this forum's rules?
