I recently got a RPi 3 B+ up and running with the 3DS Viewer software thanks to this post. (Thanks to RubyOtaku and WilliowTheWhisper!)

I do a have question though. There seems to be some pretty serious audio latency while using the viewer software. Upon startup of the Pi, the audio is synced, but over the course of about a minute, the audio becomes more and more laggy, until it's about a second behind the visuals. Is this normal behavior for the 3B+? Perhaps it's not powerful enough to run the viewer software without issues?
The 3B+ truly just isn't powerful enough to handle that, I would highly recommend upgrading to a Pi4. This issue is decidedly less pronounced on a Pi4 but still present - though it takes an hour+ instead of minutes. The viewer software is still getting updated and support is still being provided for it, but not through the Keity brand. Unfortunately, this is how the viewer works at this point and probably won't get fixed, seeing as how Keity is out of business... The only known work-around is to use the 3.5mm jack on the 3DS itself for sound output.
Very late response here on my end... but thanks for the confirmation. I figured the Pi 3B+ hardware might not be up to snuff, but it's still surprising to me that this was sold like this once upon a time. I have tried the 3.5mm jack on the 3DS and that worked fine, just a bit of a hassle with the extra wire. Thanks again!

Sorry for the late response... and thanks for the info. Glad to hear the Pi4 hardware handles things better - I don't think having to reset the TV viewer every hour or so would be that big of a deal. I think I'll try setting up a Pi4 for this in the near future. Does the Pi4 work with the same Pi software/viewer combination you described in a previous post?

Also, thanks for the link, happy to see there's some work being done for Windows 11 support.

Yeah, in my experience Merki really wants you to buy one of his overpriced "TV kits" and is supremely unhelpful with actually getting the software setup by yourself. I managed to get in touch with the guy that actually built the software to get it working.

It won't run on a completely up to date Raspbian for some reason, you have to use the 2020-05-27-raspios-buster-lite-armhf.img Raspbian image and not run updates. Then to install the dependencies:

Code:
sudo apt-get update -y
sudo apt-get install -y libdrm-dev libgdm-dev libgles2-mesa libegl1-mesa-dev

You should be able to run the viewer software then.

Notably, there's an updated version of the capture software that isn't linked on Merki's website which I've attached here. I'll also attach the translated README to this post though so all interested parties can get the button pinout.

If anybody needs an image that you can just flash to an SD card and get up and running, feel free to DM me and I'll grab you an image of my Pi.
Hi, sorry to revive an old thread. I did my N3dsXL installation and everything Tun fine in Pc but on the Pi I had no audio. Everything is fine is just no audio at all (in the tv) I change the audio settings from off to HDMI but the same. Anything similar happens to you ?

Also if isn’t too much trouble can you share your Pi image please ? Maybe it’s my setup in the Pi I’m not sure :( . I’m using a Pi4 revision B and the latest 3ds viewer software is that’s helps. Thanks !

Were you able to get ahold of the Pi Image? I'm looking at getting this all setup (once I can actually get ahold of a freakin RPi)

Hello, excuse me for reviving this topic.

Could someone help me with the image for my PI 4B, I can't get any image to work or any configuration to start 3dsview

I asked for support on Merki's discord but she banned me from her discord and she told me not to come back because her discord is for people who buy from her :(

The sad thing is that I was thinking of buying the button panel, I just wanted to see if the raspberry worked :(

Merki is awful, great modder but he's transphobic and went the extra mile to gaslight me about a repair I needed doing to my system.

I can't help with the TV kit since that's his own mod and that's not fair to him. But I've gotten the pi to run before. Its been a long while since I delved into it however
