Hello all,

I have my switch currently on 11.0.0 sysnand.
I am thinking of having dual boot atmopshere.
I was advised and need to check if correct to leave sxos and sysnand at 11.0.0.
I then boot into atmosphere and create and emunand.
I then update emunand to latest firmware.
Just checking if this is correct before i proceed?
My switch is v1 and is non patched.
I even read about stardust cfw but unsure if it will work.
If i create dual boot will the same saves + games work between both or do they need to be installed seperately?
Thanks

Nop, you create EmuMMC and then you boot atmosphere. Witch tool are you going to use to create your EmuMMC ?

Did you create an emunand under Sxos on your sysnand ?

Your saves are on two different systems. You have to dump and re-inject into another setup.

Not at all. When you first make the EmuNAND you will essentially have 2 identical systems. 1 real and 1 virtual.. the saves will exist on both. If you want you can delete them from one or the other. Save data is small though. If I were you i would..
  1. Make an EmuNand for SxOs.
  2. Back up the system and SD data
  3. Delete the installed games on the SXOS EmuNAND
  4. Shrink the EmuNAND mine is 8GB
  5. Make SuperXCI files with updates and DLC for all the XCI games
  6. Update SysNAND for atmosphere.(i leave fuses intact personally.)
You'll end up with all your installed stuff on SysNAND. All your SxOS games on the HDD and a small 8GB emunand on 11.0 for sxos. You will probably have to reinstall any games you installed with the built-in SX OS installer. That's a fault of the installer. Save data will be fine.

You could setup the SXOS EmuNAND on a seperate SD.

You.could set up 2 EmuNANDs one for atmosphere on 13 and one for SXOS on 11.0..

I use ArgonNX for a boot menu.
I use Tesla and FastCfWswitch to swap between the two

Tutorials for all of this are on the temp. I have written lots of stuff too. look in my recent posts. Pm if you want.

And dont listen to anti sxos sjws. They have no clue what to do.

You can use EmuNAND for SXOS. OR both. That is the best scenario.

Doesn't matter you just configure the ini..

I know, being using dual boot and still since 2018
It does, if you use Hekate to migrate.

I was told to use hekate.
No emunand with sxos.
I was told to leave sxos and 11.0. 0 and create emunand with atmosphere then update to latest

SXOS doesn't like atmo emunand. Atmo can use sx emunand no problem you just have to configure the ini. Maybe hekate does it for you. Idk. But if you want both to the same emunand thats the best case. However, with the current state of affairs, you.need 2 separate firmwares. 11.0 and current. 1 sys 1 emu or both emu..

@mikefor20 when you say update firmware within atmosphere previously i used Choid but others are saying use daybreak.
What do you recommend please?
Thanks

Use daybreak. It comes bundled with atmo..

Thanks mate.
So i will make an emunand on 11.0.0 sxos.
Can i then log into atmosphere and use same games and saves?
Will i need configure ini? If so how do i do this please?
Thanks

It sounds like you want to make it so you can have everything together. This is not the way I recommend. You won't be using the SXOS EmuNAND in Atmosphere. There is no reason to. SXOS is stuck at 11.0.. You will not be using the Atmosphere EmuNAND in SXOS. Atmosphere wont load from your USB HDD. They will be separate.

Make sense?

All games up to 11.0 are compatible with SXOS.. Anything higher you must use Atmosphere. that's why I say Make an EmuNAND with SXOS to have at 11.0. I personally DELETED everything on the SXOS EmuNAND except save data . I then shrunk the EmuNAND to 8GB to save space. I put all the update and DLC data in to the XCI files (make a Super XCI, there are tutorials on the Temp) This way I have a small EmuNAND on 11.0 FOR XCI GAMES ONLY.

I then made another EmuNAND for Atmosphere. Update it to the current FW for all NSP and such. Since you are making it from your original SysNAND all your NSP will be present as well as the save games and DLC. Note: Games installed using the built in SXOS installer will need to be reinstalled. Blame SXOS for wonky patches.
There are tutorials to make multiple EmuNANDS on the same SD or you could have separate SXOS SD and Atmosphere SD.

You could technically have Atmosphere (or SXOS) on your SysNAND. I don't. I only use EmuNAND as it has brick protection and doesn't cause wear and tear on the internal SysNAND.

My way you wind up with an 8gb (could probably go smaller) EmuNAND for SXOS HDD loading and A 32 GB EmuNAND in Atmosphere for everything else.
I use ArgonNX for a multi-boot menu at startup and Tesla with the FastCFW switch plugin to switch between without shutting down the system.

Best of both worlds.

Well, that’s exactly my setup (except for Argon Nx) on one sd.

What size did you shrink the EmuNAND to? I had 4GB but i was worried it was too small so i made it 8... i kinda think its too big now
I made it 8 go. Seems a good size for me, better to have some “little extras Go”. Some games I’m playing on Xcis have quite “huge” saves sizes.

My thought too.. It seems like I am less than 25% at this point... I am getting a 512GB SD next so I guess it's trivial at this point. Was just wondering for myself and future readers what you thought. TY

Hi, I've been following this thread closely, as I'm in the same boat as @shanefromoz

@mikefor20 all your information has been very helpful. I've a couple more questions if you don't mind.

I'm using a 1TB SD and 4TB USB (both exFAT) all my games have been converted to SuperXCI. I'll want to make my SD (FAT32) for the benefit of homebrew on Atmosphere. I'd also like to have my most frequently played games on the 1TB, and everything else on the 4TB.

Is there anything special I should know about transitioning to FAT32, and will I be able to install my SuperXCI files straight from my USB with Tinfoil? I saw it was possible with XCI, but unsure about SuperXCI. Really hoping this will simplify things, with all the updates and DLC already in place. Thanks

you can install super Xcis straight from external hdd docked, you will just need to use Konami code using tinfoil as signature nca will fail.

Use Panasonic sd formatter to format your sd. Yes you can install from usb. Turn on install unsigned code in the options.

I didn't need konami code.... yeah use konami code if it asks for master key

@simbin please let me know how you go. Im still confused exactly what to do

What are you confused about?
