What's up with this.!
Took out both joysticks and while the drifting and random movement don't occur in the system settings menu they still happy on vitashell (always pressed down) and at the time and date setting after you boot up the console when removing the battery (keeps pressed on the left)

Should i just buy a new motherboard

No

They pull hard on two directions when not hooked up because it's no longer grounded.

So it might be the loose ribbon cable problem huh
Sorry maybe I misunderstood.

What I read the first time was that your experienced some drift and disconnected the sticks. Turned it on and the drift was much worse without the sticks.

I was replying in haste that the 1000 sticks when disconnected they no longer ground on x or y so the software assumes the stick is max x and y.

I'm not positive if it's the same on slim or even what vita you have.

If so, yes loose ribbon can still answer this.

You may need a new joystick ribbon (or complete module if you don't want to dissect it)

You may just need to rebuild the stick is there is hair in there.

You may need a ribbon from the motherboard too the controller board.

You may need a controller board.

You probably don't need a new motherboard

The right stick doesn't do much of anything on the home menu. Put the right stick in the left side. If that works perfect you just need a new stick.

Many games can be played with only one stick too
(And plugins to disable sticks while you wait for replacements)

Or bluetooth a dualshock 3 or 4 while you wait?
