Yes! I use CBHC Flump Mod :)
haha same, that one has so many great quick launch options. Also, how cool is it to know that you probably have the first permanent custom Wii U theme. I'm number two! lol

you have it installed as permanent now? do you have dkc tropical freeze and a pro controller? if so, see if the game starts with the A button like it normally should.
I sure do. And I just checked, DKC plays without issue with a Wii U pro controller. No problems as far as I can tell.

alright, I'll install it tomorrow. best to back up the original files. I have a custom vwii theme as well. this might look good with it as they're both blue except the vwii is a dark blue.

Yes, I think your theme is really great, can you make a dark theme, otherwise I'll try it at least have some experience.

I do intend to make a dark theme, that's next on the agenda, but I'm not gonna lie, locating everything and changing each individual value for certain RGB values, and getting .dds files to properly pack into .bflim files didn't always go as smoothly as it can. As such, while I intend to tackle a dark theme, I probably wont get to work on it for another week or so. I kinda just wanna bask in this accomplishment for a minute lol.

the darkmod theme is really nice looking if it's possible to replicate. I tried it with the plugin manager that auto mounts it. that's why I mentioned dkc tropical freeze, because it had that bug unless you pressed home, then went back in. the original plugin manager does the same thing, so I don't know what's causing it. I tried it out for a week. no issues other than that and the fact that the homebrew launcher had to be sacrificed. I kept it on my sd card, the plugin manager and the homebrew launcher, and I went back to the homebrew launcher since I use usb loader gx's forwarder most of the time, instead of going through the vwii.

What's nice is that instead of that faux dark mod really giving the Wara Wara screen a dark tint filter, we'll be able to do a proper dark theme that will still allow the Wara Wara screen to be clear. My plan for now is this theme here is my main theme, and the dark theme will be what appears when I'm in SDCafiine, we can kinda have 2 themes on the same device.

Yes, it's great to see something like that on Wii U all the time. And Retroarch is also leading the way. I think it's great that the Wii U is done so well.

I don't remember the wara wara screen, since I don't usually look at the gamepad, but I do remember the nice looking color when highlighting a tile. it worked perfectly with the darkness of the background.

Yes that would be really perfect!

I'll install the theme tomorrow morning probably. I have it downloaded as well as the ftp app you used on the system. I'm going to try filezilla with it. I'll back up the original files, and I have cbhc in case something doesn't transfer. however, I plan to back out of filezilla, go back in to the right location, then check if the file has been changed based on byte size in both to and from windows. I made a backup of the original vwii theme as well. that was before any ftp method existed except for wup server, which is ftp on the home menu. it's slow as shit, so it took about two minutes to upload a 9MB file iirc.

While we're talking about the dark theme, I wanna get an idea of what people think in general. I kinda like the idea of still keeping the blue glows where applicable, since black with a bit of blue kinda is the Wii U color theme. But if we want there to be no color at all, it can be blacks, greys, and a bit of white here and there if we prefer. Let me know and when I see an overall consensus, I'll aim for that.

Yes the FTP client is really not that fast, but the Hbl version should be faster. Yes, definitely create a backup.

Yeah, that was ultimately key for me, after the transfer, exit the folder and enter the folder again to ensure that the file size is correct for what you're transferring. And for whatever reason, hitting overwrite a total of 3 times and then skip worked for both files. I can't say I get it, nor if each overwrite was necessary, but the end result is all I care about lol.

What cool would be something that could put a little red in.

Yeah, I'm starting to envision various iterations of a dark mod here, one with blue glows, one with red, one with lime green, one with purple. I may drop a lot of similar themes at once if I'm real ambitious when I tackle this dark mod.

Yes, like with the Wii themes, there are also red, green, blue, etc.

yeah, I have the blue one. it even changes the press A image when go into the vwii. I have it backed up if you want to try. you'll have to look in the python script for the location, because I forgot it. however, it should work for at least people in the usa as the European app file is different. no idea what it is for Japanese systems. it doesn't specify in the script file.

If you really manage to do it, I'll be completely freaked out haha :)

Also, it is worth noting that there is even more that can be altered in these files than what I did. Like I easily could have changed the pointer icons when you point a Wiimote at the Wii U, I could change the word bubble colors of the things the Miis say in the plaza, fairly certain I can change how the screen looks when you hit home as well. I didn't personally want to go too crazy, but all that data is there for those that do want to get real nitty and gritty with these kinds of themes.
