I'm having trouble editing the stats without causing file size changes

Is it just stats that is causing game crash? Do you know what can be edited, if anything, that wouldn't cause save load crash? I have no experience with finding and/or creating cheat codes in EdiZon...

well it seems the values are currently stored in 8 bytes, but the values I am trying to change to for the Max is 16 bytes. I have a new idea. Give me your most recent save again, only this time give me screenshots of your main characters BASE stats (the stats values they have after a reincarnation)

I just started playing game. What is the reincarnation aspect of game, and how/when should I do that? I have only done the intro mission/stage so far.

Ok, I got it

I just finished Chapter 1 and I Super Reincarnated Zed. Save slots 2 and 3 have Zed Super Reincarnated and is at Level 1. Attached screen captures have Zed Equipped, and un-equipped. Hope this helps ya and thank you so much for helping me!

So let's say he has 50 in every stat and you have enough for 4 points to use, you increase his atk by 2 and int by 2. So you'd give me a screenshot showing his base stats
Hp 50
Sp 50
Atk 52
Def 50
Int 52
Res 50
Spd 50
Hit 50

And the save accompanied with it, I'm going to see if I can edit his BASE stats to get max stats that way

And also, another screenshot of your HL I'm going to attempt to see what I can tell about the hash problem

Ok. I will reincarnate again. But when I did it the first time, I was only able to increase 1 stat, but didn't do it. Is it ok to increase just 1 stat?

I Super Reincarnated, and increased 1 stat by a single point. Also includes screen capture of base stats and which one would increase. Hope this helps you and thank you so much!

I mean, JKSV should do it, it might be some other b kind of save encryption or checksum I'm not good enough to mess with. Google how to Uninstall updates and install 1.0.2 and see if your save loads, if it does, I'll PM you my cheat file

I did a search on google, wasn't able to find much on removing game updates. Also, how would I install an update without connecting my Switch online?

That depends, how did you get the game running in the first place? And also, look for dbi
