Hi all, ive bought a new 3ds xl couple of days ago from a guy on marketplace. He said he tried to install some kind of CFW but now the console have the blue light and both black screen. Ive followed the guide to boot into B9S with NTRboot but nothing. Ive flashed NTRboot onto my R4i 3Ds rts following the guide on 3ds.hacks.guide with my old ds lite and checked also on an old 2ds. On both console the bootanimation glitch so i think the cartridge is flashed correctly. Formatted multiple times the sd before installing all the files listed on the site. The magnet im using is ripped from a dead hdd.
I dont know if its necessary but i dont have the original microsd so...
What should i do? Its been 2 days im trying to do the trick but still black screen, sigh. Any help is appreciated, thanks :)

What you should do is practice. take your working DS turn it on and hold the battery near the button pad to see where the proper positioning for the magnet placement is and if your magnet is powerful enough once you're sure where the proper position is try it again on your broken system because honestly I have never heard of ntrboot failing

First of all, the position is on every model a bit different iirc. Second, the old 2ds doesn't need a magnet ;)
The magnet should be put on the new 3ds xl under the b button.

Does the blue light flash briefly and then fade out again?
Like this post says, does the blue light turn off immediately after turning on, or does it stay on forever until you force it to power off by holding the power button for some time? If it stays on like that then it is most likely a hardware issue with the 3DS, even ntrboot usually wouldn't help in this case. Does the yellow wireless status light ever turn or do you ever hear anything from the speakers other than a pop when powering off?

If the previous owner made the most obvious mistake, you could still try putting the latest Luma boot files on any FAT32-formatted SD card and trying that in the 3DS: https://github.com/LumaTeam/Luma3DS/releases

nope, when i turn on the console the led keep being solid blue, no matter if i have the ntr cartridge inserted or the microsd.

its a neodymium magnet, it should cover the whole ABXY area even if i dont put into the correct position btw ill keep trying.

the led stay blue until i force it to power off, also no wireless led or any type of sound. Ill give a shot at the link.

You can try luma3ds 7.0.5 maybe he used A9LH,

Got it, ill check also that.

Thanks guys

looks like your nand is Really dead, rare indeed... you will need to use b9s to create an emunand and boot exclusively from that

It's such a rare thing that there likely is no guide but before we go down that route it looks like you were using gm9 for the ctrtransfer. gm9 has some brick protections built into it so it won't replace system titles that have the latest or most relevant version installed even if the system title in question is damaged or corrupt ... try a d9 ctrtransfer d9 will rewrite the entire system nand despite file integrity (as such it also has higher brick potential as well so make sure you have a nand backup ...woot double edged sword)
btw by d9 I mean decrypt9

Ok, i think we ( I ) have a problem: yesterday i was able to boot and everything else because i had still connected the fakesd adapter. Ive just removed it and the console acts weird again, no boot and black screen BUT now i dont need to force the shutdown by pressing the button but after few seconds she does it. if i press the start button and power on the console, the blue led light up for half a second and dies. even the ntrboot doesnt work anymore, just like before

EDIT: ok, idk what happened but it worked, i was able to boot decrypt9 and reflash the nand, it took a while but now it works :D
Thank you all :grog:

What do you mean by fakesd adapter? I have a 3ds with the same problem but I'm having trouble following your posts and how you fixed it. You said something about entering into the bootrom in one of your other posts but I'm confused

as long as the page are linking to follow the rules that gbatemp sets forward as in isn't going to link you to a rom site or porn or anything malicious

also on that SD where do you solder those wires to? It looks like people's old hard mod SD cards from back in the day

Here's the link https://www.reboot.ms/forum/threads...3ds-xl-nand-dump-ripristino-via-hardware.207/ the rules are tight even on the other side so no porn or anything protected by copyright.
Ive followed only the first part on how to create the fakesd and the bootrom loading, then i proceeded as you told me, decrypt9 and so on
