I'm having a problem with loading Wii games on USB loader GX.

THE STORY:

I got into Homebrewing when I first heard about Project+ in early summer last year(2020) and started everything from YouTube tutorials, so please go easy one me if I have done something Wrong or Old.

Eventually down the track, I learnt about Nintendon't and USB Loader GX and having more than one game on the console via a USB. But I still wanted to have Project+ at the same time.

According to the "DEFINITIVE Project Plus Install Guide (EVERY METHOD!)", (in the google doc details) ,it says to install the iOS revision: d2x V10 beta 52, but on the video, it says to inatsall d2x V8 final.

I tried both revisions and I still didnt get any results. from then on, I gave up on trying to get Project+ on my console and decided to get more games on my console other than just one.

I then studied more details about Homebrewing, and decided to do a System-Check on my Wii console and refined some things on my console, while refferencing some things off from CYAN's Wii hacking guide.

(I will show you everything technical in the "THE TECHNICAL DETAILS" part, further down.)

Ever since I did that, everything (Except for USB Loader GX, since I did start everything off from YouTube tutorials. I am not shafting CYAN, its MY FAULT, not his) has been working swell, Nintendon't is great, my menuify is great too, but with USB Loader GX, every single game DOES appear, but when I try to load any of the games it just gives me a Black Screen with NO sound. I also went on to the USB Loader GX settings and specifically changed the game's iOS slot and slots to: 249 and 250 singularly for each try, but had the same outcome every time, the dreaded Black Screen!!.

END OF STORY, let's get to the technicals.

THE TECHNICAL DETAILS:

Wii Console (4.3E Australian, Homebrewed)

SanDisk Extreme Micro SDXC Card (128GB, V30, U3, A2, with SD adapter, Formatted to FAT32 And 32KB allocation with successful verification for the formatting to actually work from myself.)

SanDisk UltraFit USB3.1 (64GB, Formatted to FAT32 And 32KB allocation with successful verification for the formatting to actually work from myself, hence, Nintendont actually working with all of the installed games from the USB itself.

BootMii (on IOS And Boot2)

Priiloader

d2x cIOS installer (more details in the syscheck)

MyMenuify (white theme)

Nintendon't (All the game's work)

All the other apps and games work.

USB Loader GX (All games appear but don't load, hence, the problem that i WANT to fix please)

Overall, I have some questions:

#1: Is there something, that is out of my knowledge that I am NOT doing, that CAN and WILL be able to Fix this problem for me?

#2: Is it possible to have Nintendon't, USB Loader GX and Project+ on the same console, without having to constantly change cIOSs? and if it is, how can I do it?

#3: (If all is lost) Do/Will I need a new Wii Console?

#4 Is there something wrong with my IOSs or ciOSs?

#5: Can anyone Help me with this please?

IF THERE ARE ANY IMPORTANT DETAILS THAT I AM MISSING OR NEED FROM THE INFORMATION ABOVE THAT WILL HELP ME FIX THIS, PLEASE NOTIFY ME ASAP. thanks

Hello,

Your syscheck report is correct.

Use a FAT 32 external hard drive for your Wii and Gamecube games, and you'll be fine.

meme @Cyan will tell you the same as me, use an external hard drive.

what version of usb loader gx are you using?
did you try version 1271 of GX?

#1: Is there something, that is out of my knowledge that I am NOT doing, that CAN and WILL be able to Fix this problem for me?
Yes a fat 32 external hard drive (maximum 2 TO )

#2: Is it possible to have Nintendon't, USB Loader GX and Project+ on the same console, without having to constantly change cIOSs? and if it is, how can I do it?

use the homebrews adapted to your games or use the Forwader of your homebrew

Yes a fat 32 external hard drive
Literally the solution to everything.
Make sure the ROMS you have are all PAL too. Dump them fresh from your Wii games for the best performance.
Like jeannotte said, a FAT32 external drive will do the trick. I have several USB's laying around. But definitely make sure you have an SD card over 4GB. It comes in handy in the long run.

Some other things you can do to better/secure your Wii could be like RiiConnect24. Definitely turn off WiiConnect24 unless you have RiiConnected.

Hello,

did you try version 1271 of GX?

I first started with version 1271 of GX. But 4 days ago, I updated it to the latest version, which i think is version 1272? I will check later.
(I didn't get any luck with both versions anyway.)

Just to make it clear, do you mean a Maximum of 2 TB(Terabytes)?

use the homebrews adapted to your games or use the Forwader of your homebrew

I don't want to sound like an Idiot, but what do you mean when you say "use the homebrews adapted to your games"?

#2: Why do all of my Wii games have to be PAL?

#3: Can I keep the NTSC copy of Super Smash Bros Brawl, since i need that copy for Project+? Or do I have to delete that as well, and replace it with a PAL version?

And if I have to, what do I use it for, in terms of equipment and etc, since i already have an SD card?

IOS249[57] (rev 65535, Info: d2x-v8final): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0
IOS250[56] (rev 65535, Info: d2x-v10beta52): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0

Problem here is UsbloaderGX im pretty sure it uses 249 base 56 as a default for all games but you have base 57
And running v10beta can also run into problems well it use to anyway.
I personally use d2x-v8final 249/56 250/57 251/58.
And delete GXGlobal.cfg in Usbloadergx foler in apps it will create a new one when you start it up again.

thanks, I will definitley delete the GXGlobal.cfg in the Usbloadergx folder. I got my info about cIOSs from these links if you were intersted about why I had my cIOSs this way:
cIOS - Wii Guide
AND
Wii cIOS base Compatibility List - WikiTemp, the GBAtemp wiki

use Nintendont for Gamecube games.

use Wiiflow or usb loader gx or Configurable loader v70 for Wii games.

Hi again.
Thank you so much for all of your advice!!!
All of your advice has worked for USB Loader GX.

I now have an external hard drive, for GamecCube and Wii games and it's working like magic, but I now have a new problem when trying to open/load Project+.

(please note that I am still trying to load it using the "USB Method")
it's now a Black screen With different addresses, showing and telling me to "(read from DAR)".

266131-8253e08fe7cc5add3432b3ad4e99de57.jpg

What does this mean?

Here is what I have changed since your last advice.

I have changed my cIOSs to: Base56 to Slot249, Base57 to Slot250, and Base51 to Slot251, all three with d2x v8 final, like what COBLEMAN personaly has.

I then deleted the GXGlobal.cfg file, and it successfully created a new GXGlobal.cfg file, like what COBLEMAN suggested.

MY HARD DRIVE is a: Western Digital My Passport portable Hard Drive with 1TB, formatted to FAT32 with 32KB allocation, and I am using the chord that came with it.

Is there any thing that I am doing wrong?

Once again, are you able to help me with this please?

If you are unable to help, Is there anyone that you would be able to recommend to me for this situaition?

once again,
thanks.

1. A hard drive will just be a better medium for loading games from USB Loader GX, since the hard drive connects through USB.
2. Your ROMS have to be PAL unless you un-region-locked your console. A PAL Wii can only play PAL games and an NTSC-U Wii can only play NTSC-U games, unless a homebrew exploit is enabled.
3. Get the PAL copy of Brawl. See 2 for why.
4. If it's over 4GB, then keep it. If it isn't, buy another. If it's already that big, you don't need another.

Hi again.
Thank you for helping me understand, I have already un-region-locked my console using PriiLoader, since the day that I soft-modded it. I'm so sorry that I didn't mention that I did, because I completely forgot that I actually did it.

Thank you for your help, it feels great knowing what to do to make Homebrew-Life easier and more enjoyable.
Thanks.

Okay. That's a way better thing to mention.
From experience, homebrew crashes and burns often. It's knowing what programs do what and what will break your system that helps make a hacked Wii a good hacked Wii.

Certain homebrew will just crash. If it keeps crashing, don't use it until it updates. If it was a one time thing, don't repeat the steps.

I've been doing homebrew for a while and I always had things I destroyed and fixed. It gets a little tedious, but with enough tinkering you can make a console the best version of itself.

Good luck with your future homebrewing!

Hi, its been a while since I've been on here but here is how I fixed MY problem:

Along with the advice that I've taken from the people ABOVE, which helped me and fixed my other problems, the FINAL problem turned Out to be my SD Card, of all things! Which is a SanDisk Extreme Micro SDXC Card (128GB, V30, U3, A2, with SD adapter, Formatted to FAT32 And 32KB allocation with successful verification for the formatting to actually work from myself.)

It still works Great and I'm still using it, BUT......Project+ wasn't working with it.

I know that most people will recommend others to use SD or SDHC cards when Homebrewing a Wii……But in my case: When you’ve bought an SDXC card with a lot more storage and you’ve managed to successfully format it and it actually works with the Wii with no errors(Other then this one), How could you think that it was the SD Card’s fault when it works sublimely with everything else? But at that time I didn’t know it was the SDXC Card until I received some advice from Draxikor in a different thread I created.

So in the end, if you’re using an SDXC Card and want to have Everything in that single SD Card along with Project+(Which was MY Case), you CAN’T because Project+ just won’t work with it since its and SDXC Card, along with a few other complicated factors.

I fixed this problem by getting a 16GB SDHC Card that is purely Dedicated to Project+ and it works every time with no errors. After that, I was then able to play the Wii games(Not Modded) that I downloaded onto my hard drive, using USB Loader GX from my 128GB SDXC Card. (Originally this wasn’t possible because Project+ was somehow interfering with USB Loader GX and how it was loading the games)

You don’t have to do this. I’ve done it this way so I can have Everything else in the one SDXC Card, other than modded Wii games like Project+.

PLEASE BE WARNED, that if you put two or more modded Wii games that modify the same Wii game in the same SD Card, the game's booting code will "Clash", i.e, won’t load and it will show you the Black Screen with the addresses again. So a solution to that is to buy another SDHC Card for the other modded Wii game.

I bought my SanDisk Ultra 16GB SDHC Card from Officeworks at $8.00 so its nothing to worry about when it comes to expenses.

That’s how I fixed my problems and I hope that it fixes yours as well and let me know when you’re able to get more information with your SysCheck, it might reveal some miracles or nightmares.

Have a nice night!

What issues are you having apart from the black screen?
What drive are you using? What format? Is it plugged into port 0 (lower port when the Wii is in horizontal position)?
Does the drive pass the usb initiation screen without showing the countdown?
Also post a syscheck here.

Not sure why it re-wrote the section from IOS 58 to 254, did you edit the file yourself somehow?
Anyway, you need to redo your cIOS's, you should install cIOS base 57 to the 249 slot.
Base 56 to 250.
Base 38 to 251.
If you don't know of what any of this means. Simply drag and drop your generated syscheck file into ModMii, it should tell what to do.
Or follow this guide.
