no i mean only while im playing melee. it zooms in on my character instead of attacking

Melee is weird. The right stick only does smashes in VS mode - in single player modes it does the useless zoom instead. You might be able to find a cheat code to fix it.

melee's weird, the c-stick does different things depending on which mode you're in. iirc in 1P modes it controls the camera, but in VS modes it can be used for smash attacks and aerials. your controller is (as far as i know) working exactly as intended
