Taking a little bit longer than expected, the 1.2 patch for Cyberpunk 2077 is finally here. The patch makes numerous changes and fixes to the game, spanning all sorts of improvements, such as more reliable NPC behavior, bugfixes for quests, overall stability, better driving, and "hundreds" of other tweaks. You can download the patch—which comes in at a whopping 34GB on PC and more than 45GB for consoles—on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One, with an update for Stadia players to arrive soon. This isn't the end to further updates for Cyberpunk 2077, either, as CD Projekt Red still plans on releasing more patches in the future.

Over 30GB? Sounds like a lot of un-optimized code, yikes. I miss the days when a game that's two discs long could be ported to just 64MB of space. (Resident Evil 2 for the N64.)

Sadly, game devs don't believe in storage space optimizations or compression in games anymore.

With as big as the game is, a 30GB+ update with pretty substantial fixes doesn't seem so out of the ordinary. Could be like Apex Legends, where every major update made you redownload the entire game for for the first year or so.

the patch actually makes performance worse for many people

i've got a 1080 ti and a ryzen 5 3600, and the game struggled to keep 60fps on 1080p LOW settings. i even saw as low as 23fps
they also didn't fix the bug where NPCs like to drive straight through walls, or the bug that lets you summon all of your cars at once and have them launch all over the place

the thing that needs to be debloated is the offline gog installer
it's 100gb for essentially no reason, and doesn't let you remove the unnecessary languages that are a part of it causing it to be an extra 30gb bigger than it should be
holy christ... I miss the days when a game was just a few hundred megs... 1999 was so good to me.

I've had a lot of fun with the game. I put around 50ish hours into it, and had to put it down once school picked back up. Now that the mod scene has taken off, I can't wait to get back into it.

I wanted to take a crack at it tonight, but it's still downloading :/, and I've got virtual PTC for the next 3 days :(

LOL! Code is small. It was in 1979 and it is today. Digital assets are large. I cannot even begin to imagine the poor planning and execution that leads to a new game having a 30 gigabyte update. Sure, if it's MSFS and has new imagery. Otherwise, WTF? Actual broken code is not large nor are executables.

Exactly. How many "bugs" need texture updates? Like, maybe 2 I could see... But not 30GB worth.
