ROM Hack Moving from 128gb to 1tb storage

I recently purchased a 1TB micro sd card to upgrade my son's modded switch which is running atmosphere, is there an idiots guide out there regarding what I need to do as far as transferring data from one card to another? I'm guessing it's not a simple as copy and paste. I read a few guides but I'm not feeling confident about the process, the more simple the guide the better for me.....lol

It is as simple as copying and pasting using a computer, although personally I'd uninstall the games, copy over the rest of the files and then reinstall them but that can be tedious

Edit: Unless you are using an Emunand, then I guess it would be more complicated sorry I forgot Emunand was a thing as I don't use it

It is as simple as copy-paste. (If you don't have EmuNAND. Then it's not that simple.)
Just format it to proper format.

Format it with Guiformat, copy and paste the stuff from your OLD Sd-card, plopp it in and go.

Excluding emunand It's a simple copy and paste IF you are using Windows and sdcard adapter

If not, after copy and paste files you need first to run Hekate and use Archive Bit Fixer. Then run CFW.

Go to system settings and check for system version. When running Atmosphere, you will have either at the end "S" (sysmmc) or "E" (emummc)

Just checked and it ends with an "s", so I guess I'm good to go. I'll definitely delete all the games on there to speed up the process, do I format exfat or fat 32? Is it better just to drag and drop files from the old card to the new one or to use a software such as EaseUs? Thanks for all the help, this site is awesome!

I tried copying and pasting but it didn't work, it opened up two processes for the file transfer and was asking me to overwrite files on the target micro sd card, feels like I'm missing something. Could the card be partitioned/ I really don't have a clue what to do as I'm completely new to modding, the switch was purchased modded from eBay

I would recommend you try using a software like Guiformat first on the SDCard.
Then you can try using "Teracopy" to make sure the data is exact. They're both totally free.

Formatted it with Guiformat but I'm lost when it comes to Teracopy, am I supposed to drag and drop files off the original sd card to the larger one, the interface is a wee bit confusing

Hi darksoleil, did you manage to successfully move to your 1TB SD card? If so, then I wanted to ask if you notice any impact on the performance like longer loading/boot-up times. With the 3DS there's a longer loading time when booting up when moving to larger SD cards (e.g. from 32 GB to 256 GB), so I was curious if something like this applies to the Switch as well.

Read/write speed doesn't matter that much when game loads thousands of small files. IOPS is more important. And this suffers with bigger memory. That's why from 256 GB it is adviced to buy at least A2 microsd.

I just formatted the newer sd card to FAT32 in Windows and copied over the files from the old sd card. Works well with no issues.

When I switch my the SD card of my 3DS from 32GB to 128GB of the same class the system didn't suffer a performance drop while playing games, but it does takes noticeably longer for the system to boot. So that is kinda what I was mainly wondering about for my Switch. Right now 1TB micro SD cards are too expensive per GB compared to the smaller SD cards, but I do intend to move to a 1TB card because 256GB is just not enough for me.

If you don't mind me asking, can you elaborate on the procedure from moving to another SD card for emunand? I haven't installed my CFW myself, so I've still got plenty to learn about the matter. Which files are needed to run Hekate and use Archive Bit Fixer? What does the bit fixer do and why is it needed when using emunand? And when do I copy-paste the rest of the files?
