Hacking External hdd won’t show to install pkg help

I’m not trying to install games on the external cause the hdd have to be formatted by ps4. I’m trying to install game to ps4 internal from an external storage device Nfts is not fat32 or exfat. Thanks for any help or advice

PS4 doesn't use NTFS.

You'll have to use exFAT or FAT32.

remember if it's 2TB or higher, it must be in gpt format as well or nothing will show. even though MBR can do up to 2.2TB iirc, it won't show up with 2TBs for some reason on the ps4. I made that mistake the first time I mass installed.

I think I did with easeus, but you probably can with disk part, just haven't looked into it. disk part is built into windows, so google changing to gpt with disk part. some apps, disk part may be included, force a format, but you don't have to format in reality when changing from mbr to gpt or the other way around. it just depends on how you're doing it. easeus or aomei even don't require it. easeus costs money for certain features, so I don't know if that's one of them.

it's probably gpt already though for an hdd that large. mbr can't be on an hdd that size.

I think gpt goes all the way up to 16TBs. I don't know what's after that, but it must be something since 30TB+ hdds exist.

Ok thanks that’s kind stupid ps4 supposed to be high tech and can’t even read higher Tb by now all consoles should accept all forms of storage especially when when we need a lot of storage.

So I need formatting to exfat than convert to gpd. Also I format through the ps4 can I just plug hdd to pc transfer files than plug in ps4 install game

yes, exfat, since most games are larger than 4GBs, and gpt if it's 2TB or larger. if you format on the ps4, it will read the hdd as extended storage. afaik, there's no way to partition the drive like you can on the 360, so the whole drive is used. you can't use the same hdd to install pkgs to if it's extended storage.

I know of no way of accessing the extended storage either. when I try to access usb on ftp, all I get is a blank partition. that's true of all usb.
