Hi there,
I have a pretty new EZ flash junior, and it was working this morning, absolutely nothing changed, I turned off my gameboy and went for a drive, I come home to play it and it's now stuck on "OSINIT..." and won't boot, I've tried multiple SD cards and multiple gameboys and nothing works, what could cause this, and more importantly, how can I fix it?

Thanks!

If OSINIT showed up, it means the card can recognize the microSD and loading the kernel file. This means that there is no problem with the card itself(it can boot up), and the function of reading the SD card is fine, but the subsequent loading cannot be carried out.

the recently halt at OSINIT issue only happens in upgraded to FW5+K1.05RC with slow SD card. Have you performed this operation before?

I did upgrade the card to FW5, but I did that a few days ago, and it worked fine this morning, so I can't really see how the firmware update could cause this, because I upgraded it and it worked fine for a few days.

is there any way to downgrade/ factory reset it? if it works on FW4 I'd like to downgrade it if possible

FW5 was removed from the site, how are people still finding it lol? It came with a warning to NOT use it unless you were super desperate and had tools + possible soldering expertise to recover in case you broke something pretty bad.

If you slow format a fast SD card, put just the fw files back on it and downgrade to FW4 manually, it should restore functionality. It may take 10 or even 1000 attempts to boot, but it will eventually boot. Or if you have the tools and skills, I guess PM ezflash and hope you can save it.

So actually I didn't flash fw5, it has fw4 on it. It worked like a charm, until it just stopped. For now I tried several cards including super fast 32gb ones, always fat32 / 32kb .Always os init. Tried several Gameboys from stock dmgs to modded colors, always the same. Do I need to press a special button to restore the fw? It just hangs on os init. I have a Altera blaster cable, any way reflash it this way? Any tutorial on this? Pinout?

Unfortunately there's not really a tutorial on it, you'd need to message ezflash and try see if it's due to your little spi flash chip if you wanted to do that, which you'd need to dump and reflash a recovery image to, which can be done with the usb blaster, but might be a bit of a pain in the ass opposed to just having a universal programmer on-hand lol. Your alternative is just getting the unit replaced by your reseller?

Thanks for the info. Well I bought it used on ebay with an dmg all together so it's rather hard to send it back. Gotta see what I can do.

Is there a way to get FW5 K1.05RC somehow? My sd-card is fast enough. ;)
I need it for my girlfriend's GBC without CPU suffix ("Micro SD Initial Error!" issue).

@GreatAzrael

Have you been using the product before you encountered the error? If it has not been used for a long time, perhaps the SD card or SD card slot has oxidation and needs to be cleaned.
