I'm using a 3.5 inch hard drive in a USB 3.0 hard drive enclosure. It's NTFS. I safely removed it from my PC before plugging it into the Switch and Tinwoo isn't recognizing that a USB hard drive is plugged in. Can I plug the drive into the Switch at any time or do I need to plug it in before I power on the Switch?
You can plug it in at any time.

It may be some sort of compatibility issue. Please run the attached NRO, connect your USB drive and exit the application afterwards. Then, share the logfile in your SD card root directory with us.

Did what you said. I'm using Atmosphere. I launched the NRO. Then connected my USB 3.0 4TB NTFS hard drive via the top USB port on the Switch. Then pressed + to exit the program. My logfile is attached.

After the program is launched I only saw 3 lines of text at the top of the screen. Is it supposed to be like that? There's no other messages shown when I connect a USB drive.

I don't know if this has got anything to do with my problem but I noticed that I can't use touch screen controls when using TinWoo, I think I was able to use them in the past but I could be wrong.

The ZIP archive doesn't seem to hold any logfile.

All my PCs are Windows. I suppose I could download a linux USB distro if I had to if you can tell me which one to use and what commands to use.

Ubuntu will do. I want to take a look at the verbose output from lsusb - there aren't many straightforward tools to achieve this under Windows.

Can you please give me a link to a Ubuntu USB distro to install and instructions for what you want me to do as I'm not familiar with Ubuntu or running commands.

I also tried using a 128 GB SanDisk Extreme Pro USB 3.1 stick and got the exact same log as I did with my hard drive.

I used this yesterday after struggling to get latest Lithium and awoo to install over usb on 11.0 fw. Worked great but did have 1 problem. The nzs file I installed did not boot. Ended up removing sd card and installing. Still I recommend using TwinWoo with NS-usbloader in Tinfoil mode if your on 11.0 fw and struggled like I did.

This tutorial should be more than enough: https://ubuntu.com/tutorials/create-a-usb-stick-on-windows

Let me know when you're ready. Feel free to hit me up via Discord to avoid cluttering this thread.

A 3,5 inch drive needs external power. Have you connected it to power as well?

I am loving it. It installed XCI great on my atmosphere using ns-usbloader. Good work!

How do you get XCI files to show up in ns-usbloader? For me, it only shows .nsp files... and I have the latest version downloaded yesterday.

Once you are launch TinWoo Install on your Switch. And launch NS-USBLoader the lastest version on your PC or macOS.

In NS-USBLoader:

Click Select files and find .xci or drag and drop it on NS-USBLoader and the xci should showing up in NS-USBLoader with orange check mark on it at the right

Go to TinWoo Install in Switch and click Install Over USB and message will said "Warning! blah blah" and click OK.

USB connection successful! Waiting for list of files to be sent...

Go to your NS-USBLoader and click Upload to NS

Your switch will show it and click the box to check and follow instruction and you are all done. :)

I already explained that to someone else. Here:

When I try and launch a Tinwoo installed game I get the "checking whether this software can be played" message and it won't let me play the game. It says "An error has occurred. Please try again later. If the problem persists, please try performing a system update". How can I get the games to play?

Is it asking that because the game has an online multiplayer game mode as I thought since the main game is single player then I wouldn't need to download any system update to play it?

Do I need to install the system update on my internal storage or on my EmuMMC?
