It's been a hot minute since I've seen one of these kinds of threads, usually it's an emulator, though!
"I'm putting together a team to make a SNES emulator for the vita. Looking for someone that knows how to program emulators, someone that can do art for the GUI, and someone good with community to answer questions!"
Emulators for you?
I certainly see them from time to time and they would be high in the running as a general category but the bulk of things if I was a betting type would be translations and pokemon hacks, and around the time pokemon launches only in Japan then translations of that rather than waiting a month. Minor repeats of the not waiting a month for the occasional Square-Enix game or Nintendo big franchise effort.
Usually accompanied by a dubious progress bar
Started project (download the ROM). 10% done.
Unpacked ROM (ran tool that tells you what files are inside and looked at the names). 30% done
Ran automated tool that gave outline of text encoding. 60% done.
What is a font? I mean editing characters (no characters yet edited). 70% done.
Managed to change a text line in proof of concept (managed to change a text line in proof of concept). 92% done.
How do I make the length longer (What is a pointer?). 95% done.
Project abandoned. Maybe a farewell message. Was really 97% done though (might see second proof of concept line edit or dubious script dump ran through automated translation software).
Wow most of the people here are rude for no reason.
I don't know if that is rudeness as much as snark.
As was at least intimated by everybody then such things do need someone bringing something to the party, and while I did not know anything about any previous drama that would not have really changed much.
Sometimes established developers can do an ambiguous recruitment (though even they will typically have a coded message) but even that is rare and you usually only get one of them before having to deliver something or a plausible failure report.
