There is a new PS2 Development environment set up.
This program will automatically build and install the whole a compiler and other tools used in the creation of homebrew software for the Sony PlayStation® 2 videogame system.​

There is some information from one of the developer on twitter.

Finally I would like to mention that nowadays, the #PS2 is still alive and waiting for the collaboration of other devs.
Now is easier create ps2 homebrew than 15 years ago. More libraries are supported and more will come as well.
So come on community! And dust your old PS2 off

Thanks for the info.

This is more software related than hardware (NET Yaroze used a PS1 console produced for that matter). But this means that we can program on a computer using MacOS (not of my liking) or Ubuntu (a better option).

Hope we get to see some projects being developed soon.
