I got my son animal crossing on our hacked switch for Christmas. My fiance decided she wanted to play as well but we soon found out that the main player has to be the one to progress the storyline to unlock recipes on the secondary players accounts. My question is are there any homebrew methods to be able to have multiple islands? She's playing at a faster pace than my son and wants to keep playing without having to wait for things to be unlocked.
Another question, is there any kind of homebrew similar to the mario maker 2 level downloader where I could "inject" (for lack of a better word) users islands they could visit?
Thanks in advance we appreciate any help we can get.

You can use JKSV to backup and restore different save files. For example, after you make an island, back it up with JKSV and name it your son's name, start a new island, and when you want to switch back to your son's island, backup the new island and restore your son's island.

That all being said, sharing an island with the people you live with is the next best thing to having different Switches. I recommend sharing an island.

There is a way to inject island, with nhse, in fact you can give everything yourself or whoever you want on the same switch if its modded.
First download and install jksv (to backup your game), then use download nhse and edit your save and every islander if you want.
Not very difficult, i can lend you a hand if you make a jksv backup
