As the title says, I have quite a bit of legit PSN purchases on my account, which a family member would like to keep playing.

I would normally format the HDD and redownload the games, but as far as I understand fake signed and legit games don't share saves, even after backup+restore.

Furthermore, the wiki by KiiWii mentions (again, if I understand correctly) that legit PSN games try to "phone home", so I doubt merely logging out of my account would prevent a ban.

What precautions should I take?

You can share game saves from original titles with fpkgs, search for 'fpkg keystone injection' you should find some guides...

Basically you
  1. dump your PSN title
  2. save the keystone
  3. create a modifiable fpkg
  4. inject the keystone to the fpkg using the orbis-pub-cmd.exe
  5. install the modified fpkg
  6. ...
  7. profit
If you are using a jailbreakable console you can't connect to PSN so no risk of bans. They could still get some statistics and link it to your PSN ID, but the code in fpkgs and original titles, again FWIK, it's the same so no differences there.

If you want peace of mind keep your console offline or blacklist Sony IPs at the router/AP...
