Hacking Help with a seemingly bricked 2ds xl

Hi all,

I am trying to sort out a seemingly bricked but formerly modded 2ds xl. I did not do the initial installs on it, but do know it worked at some point, and then was thrown in a drawer. The micro sd that was originally used has been lost or used on something else - I have no access to see what files were there in the first place. Before being given to me to figure out, I believe a factory reset was attempted. I now get this error:

Arm11 (Processor 1)
Exception type Undefined instruction

Makes sense because nothing is instructing it

My question - can I get this back to any semblance of working? I am comfortable with most soft mods, am willing to purchase flash cards etc but am absolutely not able to open it up and mess with it.

Any help is super appreciated!

That's only part of the error. Try to transcribe more if you can

À decent first step would be trying to update Luma -- get the latest release from here: https://github.com/LumaTeam/Luma3DS/releases/tag/v10.2.1, extract it, and put `boot.firm` on the root of the 3DS SD card, replacing any existing one

This was super helpful, that definitely cleared the error. It looks to me like I am back in business, I got a screen that looked like this:


And when I pressed start it took me to the normal nintendo home screen. My only remaining question is if my goal was to have it soft modded for my nephew to play ds roms, where would I go from here? A link is fine, I dont want to waste anyone's time, just can't figure out where in the process I am when it came to me half done

You can use Twilight Menu ++ if you want to play some DS games. DS roms you have to get on your own it is illegal to share here.
