Personally i'm hoping that as a result of the firmware dump i can at least directly boot hekate and atmosphere, it takes time getting used to but it works!
Pretty easy to do now. I load into sxos then go to homebrew menu and use payload launcher. Select atmos. It loads into atmos. Once in atmos do the same but select sxos.

This method will be invalid if user will not use emunand and they will update sysnand to version not compatible with SX OS.

Only method that should always work (when Hekate and Atmoshpere will release versions supporting Mariko) is to boot Hekate from SX OS boot menu and from Hekate run Atmosphere. This method is independent from Horizon version.

And I, for one, welcome our new clone overlords!

Me too. Needing to pay for homebrew software was something I never thought was okay, like how TX was handling SX-OS. The whole point is to unite a community with an interest in the hardware, not to profit off of it.. (Charging for modding hardware is understandable, and accepting donations is preferred over charging for software in my opinion)

Question - Does the SX Core ModChip work with the latest Firmware? Been waiting to do something about my Patched Switch, since I need to Update a few Games, but last I heard, the SX ModChip did not work on a certain FW.

I'd wait for clones personally unless the price is right ($40).
Do we know if the chips are plug & play/ easily fitted or will we likely need to solder?

You can go 2 ways.

1. go full risk and buy as fast as possible the chip and install it, activate it and hope you get updates after the 10.2 update (from xecuter or other poeple, if a "hack" of the sx chip is possible)
2. wait until someone else found a way to exploit the switch or copied the sx chips[/QUOTE

Actually, gateway clears a key that's needed from the security engine prior to payload handover; you'll likely need to use custom modchip firmware or a different drm bypass to boot from hekate/atmosphere.

That depends on the exploit. When they use voltage glitching as SX then you need to solder, when they find a software exploit you only need external tools.

For someone who doesnt understand English very well, what exactly does that mean?
I am SX TX user, does that mean my Boot can be updated via another team/user? I am worried that I will have to switch to Atmosphere and I do not have a clue how to start. I feel like the process will be long and complicated.

Thanks

What we do forget about this 'great' news is that any business model the remaining TX team had left is being undermined and any chance of continuing sxos (updates on dat file for new nintendo firmware versions) is getting more and more uncertain.
Hoping for sxos become open source is the same as hoping gateway 3ds become open source

Just my two cents

But I'm pretty sure you have to pay for the clones also. I never had a problem with SXOS because it was easy to use and plug and play sure $50-$60 that's just the price of 1 game. That's a good deal now the clones they may just be a cash grab they probally work on 10.2.0 but not support future firmware updates so now you have a useless clone. SXOS may rise again and support new firmware in the future
