I am working on a project to make a linux system with my banned switch I no longer use for anything. The plan is to use it as a linux tablet and make a custom enclosure for a laptop feel. Only having 4Gb of ram is meh and I know zram is a thing in linux and have read about people doing this with an sd card but how would I use my 32Gb nand flash for extra RAM?

Last time I heard, L4T Ubuntu does not yet have any drivers for accessing the eMMC. Even if you could, it may require that the eMMC be wiped out, and unless you backed it up, you may not be able to restore it in case you want to sell it to someone else.
BTW, even a banned Switch with CFW such as Atmosphere is still useful for playing actual Switch games, provided that you also get the sigpatches. L4T Ubuntu can't run Switch games at all, unless perhaps via the Yuzu emulator.

Thank you for informing me but I've made up my mind, plus I have two other switches and a lite so I'm not to bothered by this just wanted to make a project out of it since I have no need for it and I'd rather not sell one of my day one switches. I do plan to use L4T for this project as well.

There is nothing else I can help you here. While my Switch unit is also unpatched, it is my only unit, and I want to have access to Switch games, without getting the unit banned. Since I already use Linux distros on my desktop and laptop computers running Ubuntu, I don't feel as much need to actually use L4T Ubuntu. On top of this, RCM payload sending may not always work, and getting into CFW can sometimes be tedious to do, especially since I don't always use my Switch often enough to always keep it on standby. So I actually turn it off in order to increase battery life.

Yep, L4T Ubuntu is the de-facto linux distribution that runs on tegra hardware. They even have an android image, I've tried it myself and it works great :)

You can build your own L4T Ubuntu and flash it to your emmc.

If you need help with that ask in Linux 4 switch Discord. https://discord.gg/G6JbBdV

Thank you both! I've already stripped down one of my spare dock for the main board and stuff, and got it all updated (L4T). Now I just gotta design the laptop hybrid and install all the stuffs. I'll have to see if I can squeeze a powered hub in too! If not I'll just stick to the three it has but really cool! I'll check the Discord to see if someone knows how to use the eMMc for extra RAM.

Shout out to CTCaer and The Wizard Azkail on Discord for helping me with this. They mentioned I instead use the Zswap method but you can use the eMMC for the Zswap . Using both ZRAM and Zswap together will allow this to happen. If you need more info I highly recommend this discord chat who has been extremely helpful.

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
It was easy to bypass some of the restrictions, as one of the admins left a registry key in the administrative shares drive, which allowed me to get around the blocking of some sites.
