I'm not sure as I've never done it, but I do remember @TurdPooCharger talking about changing regions. I think there's a byte difference in hex (a small one) that determines region. it's probably possible if that's the case. don't take my word on that though as I just have a vague memory of it. I've tagged him, so he'll see this message.

Generally I don't assist in removing CFW. The SecureInfo_X file might need to be restored from the embedded essentials backup GodMode9 creates.

:!: Don't play around with these things if you don't know what you're doing.
:!: Backup SysNAND now.
:!: Don't remove CFW, especially not without doing the safety test (which will probably fail after region change).

Failing storage media is the reason for backing up files multiple times – especially if they can't be replaced like console-unique data.

Nope u can't
It is easy to just answer "No", "Nope", "Nothing", "Never" to anything. That does not mean it is correct every time – or helpful.

you're talking to the right man. I've backed up everything 3 times (12TBs worth of data). I plan to make it an even four next month when I get my check at the first of the month.

Exactly. There is console-unique data and the NAND is encrypted with console-unique keys (which means a forced restore will result in 8046 BOOTROM ERROR)

I'm fairly sure that changing region without a backup is possible. Turdpoocharger will know for certain, since I've seen him help someone change regions.

I might buy my last two 10TB hdds next month. I've been selling my switch retail games, since I'm going all digital like with the wii u. I also get a disability check for $522+$41 each month. I've been holding on to my money. I can't have more than 2 grand in all accounts combined. selling my games -- I'll go over that as I think I can get about $700 for all 20, and my payee account will have about $1,700 on the first of next month. hyrule warriors somehow is at $67 and it's used unless it's no longer printed.

Region changing is not the problem. It's just CTRTransfer. The part with "unhack the device" is the problematic one.

I know godmode has a script for restore and restore (safe). I'm assuming safe is to keep b9s. I've used it before without issue. though it's not entirely clear what the difference is, but that's what I was thinking.

btw, does this seem excessive? here's all the nand backups I've made:

I did the same with the 360:

and, the ps3:

Hi, you can (A) CTRTransfer / region change -OR- (B) CTRTransfer (Type D9) - CTRTransfer the 3DS firmware from EUR back to JPN.

If (A) standard CTRTransfer is done, reinstall the backed up legit tickets with FBI in the later sections II–IV, system update to the latest 11.13J, repair the bricked DS(i) mode with TWLFix-CFW, and relist DSiWare games with the aid of CTRTransfer (Type D9) - DSiWare CIAs & Saves.

IF (B) alternative CTRTransfer (Type D9) was followed instead, the Instructions will contain all the necessary steps in what to do.

***

I don't know why anyone would want to uninstall custom firmware. Even if you're looking to sell the 3DS, it's better to find a buyer who'll want yours already hacked. You're going to be kicking yourself if the uninstallation goes wrong, the buyer backs out purchasing your (now) paperweight, and you're now left selling it at a lower price to someone who's willing to fix it his/herself with the ntrboot method.

Make sure the 3DS passes the (temporary no custom firmware) Section I - Safety Test. The system tickets, system titles, and SecureInfo_A|B should be fine when reverting to JPN without CFW. User profile setup with leftover EUR savedata might not work. This will have to be checked by renaming the data folder to data2 in the [1:] SYSNAND CTRNAND if the safety test refuses to boot to HOME Menu.
