I have a new 3ds xl capture card from Merki, he has now stopped production or help with anything related to these. I want to get the pi software running and the guide is immensly confusing. I've linked the original product for his TV kit down below.

https://www.merki.net/produkt/tv-kit-for-capture-cards-en/?lang=en&v=79cba1185463
please also check out the info section for the software download

I own a pi 3b+ which is the same as his in the product images. I've encountered so many issues trying to get it to work correctly. If anyone has gotten it working I would love some help, or if anyone can get it working now of course I really do need the help!

I found an old thread here and someone got it working on a pi zero, however I can't contact that user for help sadly.

Hello, the Pi he sells come with the tact switches that come with a daughterboard that connect to the mainboard GPIO pins, I bought one of these tv tuner kits from him last year it comes with the software on a sd card. Maybe wait for him to have it in stock if you want to buy one. Alternative you can do it on your own the pi image can be found on his forum and an image of the tacts button soldered on to the daughter is included in a photo.

Hi, he isn't doing them anymore so there is no chance to sell anymore. I've been talking to him on his discord page but he isn't up for helping as he wants nothing to do with 3DS modding anymore.

Would you be willing to please make a copy of your SD card and upload them?

I've been following the guide online and constantly run into different errors, someone else on his forum is struggling too as the guide doesn't make sense.

I havw soldering skills as I tend to work with hardware more than software so ill be following the image guide to get the taxtile switches working too.

The image should be the same as the one is on his forum, without the tact buttons it wont be fully functional

Shouldn't a USB keyboard work too? I've tried using the image but it all doesn't run, the version of OS to use is incredibly unclear, compatibility is very much confusing in the guide.

I've tried a new OS and it doesn't recognise the .bin file, I tried the recommended OS and the startup screen didn't even show.

Nevermind it seem the .bin file he included was just a viewer file to be run on a pi, sorry I don't really want to mess up my sd card as I have no backup of the pi image.

Oh I see, you can just highlight everything on the SD card and copy it to a computer without any risk. It would be a really big help as there's really not much I can do on my end.

Sorry for being a bother.

hi there, making a back up of a ip image isn't to hard and i would recommend making a backup of the in the case of something going wrong with your pi.

Don't think she needs a 3ds with capture card, she wanted the setup for TV Tuner kit via a raspberry pi that is used with the N3DS.
Yeah, just the pi software.

Have you got any pics you can take of your buttons, as all I have to go off are the pics online.

It would be a big help to see them when attached to the pi and also on its own please.

I got the one from Merki, it is the same one shown on his website.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

The viewer file is inside the RPI_N3DS winrar file, download 2018-11-13-raspbian-stretch-lite and open the readme.txt in microsoft word where you need to google translate the Japanese text.

I know. I've looked over the stuff online. But if I can see anything from your one it would help as what is on his website isn't very helpful. I have all the components to build that myself.

Sorry Im not going to take apart mine if you want to see the osd thing, it is exact same one on his website, technically you don't need the osd once you have it configured, that is only needed if you want to change the setting on it.

Thats fair enough, just compiling something so getting the components in to build it myself. Since it should only cost a maximum of £40 if people want the buttons configured etc... which is one reason why Merki's one didn't sell too well as it was quite overpriced. I've always wanted my own and having a keyboard is quite impractical tbh

Well having the component is one thing, you need to understand how to configure the raspberry pi to autostart the viewer file, and autologin, the one he sells the shell is 3D printed, it is better than a regular raspberry pi case, the case with the buttons are smooth, not like the clear shell with the osd picture, true it is expensive but he still got people willing to buy it, people are willing to chip out big money for these capture card unit stuffs.

Don't worry, I've literally just got the buttons to configure and it's done the buttons are a choice as an extra part.

Yea the button is extra, as you can just use a keyboard if you don't have it, well burn the image first then do the autoboot the viewer file, and do the auto login for the "pi" user.

I've already got stuff setup, all the coding sorted out etc... just nice to see other setups for an example you know?
