Hello PS4 Community,
My brother dumped his old ps4 in my room because it was overheating. He bought a new one and I fixed the old one.
Now I'm actually sitting on a 6.72 PS4.
So here is how I understood that this works.
You have to use some kind of "BrowserHax" first off.
But does it launch some kind of cfw?
Does this persist after going into StandBy mode? Can you coldboot it after using the exploit once?
Is there any Ps4.hacks.guide similiar thing to get me started?
I saw the AIO post but from looking over it, it looked more like for people who know what they do.

I'd be very nice if someone can guide me in the right direction, or guide, I don't like to follow Video guides.

Thanks!

It is kinda like switch cfw in the aspect that you must run a payload to enter cfw/hen, but the exploit is done through a website (which you can cache for offline). You can also enter rest mode and retain the hen like switch. If you turn it off, you must run the exploit again.

CMIIW tho. Mine is still on 6.20 and still waiting one that is as stable as Nintendo's software update. Good luck with trying one, I heard it is quite stable now (al azif mira no hb). No tutorial just setup the dns, run the exploit, and disable internet.

Does the PS4 force updates?

Does the PS4 force updates?

I think it can automatically install updates, i turned off automatic updates but when I launched a game (and was connected to internet with no specific DNS) it still automatically began to download the latest update so I had to disconnect internet and delete the update (through Notifications).

After successfully running the exploit, I'd recommend that you run the "Disable Updates" payload. This will download a fake update with a very high firmware number and store it in the ps4 (so ur ps4 wont look for official updates). And by caching the exploit and running it offline you'll be safe from the ps4 connecting to Sony servers and downloading updates for you. I dont think there is a supernag on ps4 as on the switch, from my experience anyway..

It is not a CFW but an exploit to allow you access to the debug menu, treating the unit like a development unit by giving you access to the debug menu. Games are run under fake package format, fpkg. There is no Coldboot at the moment as there is no CFW. You can use either Al-Azif DNS server to host the files you needs or you can cache it so you can keep the unit completely offline.

As for guide goes, I would recommend modded_warfare youtube videos, but you don't like video guides, I guess only one left is KiiWii All in one guide. There is no ps4.hacks.guide.

Okay I will give modded_warfare a try, the exploit is pretty recent so there should be no problem I guess.
Just many people sometimes brick their consoles by following outdated videos ^^

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I will update this soon. Make it firmware agnostic for the majority.
I really appreciate your efforts, then I'll rather wait. I'll be on vacation until September in 1 week and maybe when I return, the guide and also maybe a even more stable webkit will be released :).

But now I know more, thanks guys.

The concept is the same as it goes for 4.05, 4.55 and 5.05 exploit, 6.72 ain't no different, Modded Warfare does a good job explaining stuffs. It is different from the switch, switch technically have a so call cold boot with a modchip and autobooting config.

we are pinning our hopes on Specter to make a stable sploit. For now I recommend using @Leeful ’s implementation, it’s the best there is right now.

Hi. I am also a noob when it comes to the ps4 exploit/jb scene. I have read several guides now and am familiar with the steps to take for getting the debug menu. my question is do i have to run the exploit every time i want to play the installed fpkg games or is it playable straight away after i turn on the ps4 everytime? also r my other store bought/installed games safe or will their data get corrupted?

As far as I've understood, there is no custom firmware so you should be able to play them after a reboot. I don't know if they are signed tho. Maybe someone who knows can clarify ^^

That must be rough. Productive I'm sure but hard to balance with daily life

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.

Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though

@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
